Personally recommend East Ocean at Isetan Scotts (2nd floor, staircase entrance at exit to Pacific Plaza), very good egg tarts and dim sum........ Everyday packed....weekdays by office workers and families on weekends....

Personally, I don't see why being packed is any indication of the food being good.

For this and any other place.

Its simply to imply that the place is recongised to be good. However, personal preferences apply, as to whether the food is really good or worth the wait or travel......Would anyone dare to try out a restaurant that can barely hav 1 or 2 tables of customers everyday? I just recommend cause its one of my frequent haunts......good or not try for yourself.......word of advice, order the egg tarts!

I've been out of Singapore for a while,
and I don't think that there is a Jalan Basar in Singapore.

I am assuming you mean Jalan Besar and not Jalan Bahar, for obvious reasons.
But then I could be batshit wrong too, as Jalan Bahar is known for the wild night parties.

Jalan Besar is between the intersection of Sungei and Ophir Roads and Lavender Street,
which is almost 2 kilometres long. Yes almost 2km!

So I am assuming that along the entire almost 4km (back and forth) stretch of Jalan Besar,
there is only one dim sum shop, and a really obvious one at that.

Thanks for the really helpful recommendation,
and I would really be sure to go check it out when I am back in town.
With my forum buddies who are really keen to try it out too.

Oh btw, there is a movie at Cineleisure that I highly recommend,
open 24hrs, nice but not that cheap. esp the parking.
