View Full Version : Ugly truth of F&B (click if u wanna know...)
i know some ugly truths...
i know a restaurant (i used to work there) serves expired drinks (beer, soft drinks, etc)
the boss even told me the drinks after expiry date can still serve one more year. bluff me right? sick...
and the kitchen (same as above) 'recycle' customers leftovers... like uneaten bread. i know altough customers never eat, but once it's served, it's done. but they took back and reuse for the next customers. yucks.
Can food and drink can be consumed even after the use by date but knowingly do it in a F&B sector can get a free stay at "Changi" and fine if reported.

the worse thing they'll get is close down. if NEA finds out. :whistling oh and by the way, the drinks are expired half a year liao. they purposely remove the label incase customers ask to see the bottle.

When i was doing my dip, my poly buddy who was doing pizza delivery will tell us that if the caller sounded an ass, he will get a treat of cig ashes or even "bird nests" from him.
My call is that NEVER mess with f&b ppl, especially the waiters and front managers.

I used to know a friend, who told me that their outlet recycled the paper cups customers throw into the dustbin. LOL

oh ya these things happens ALL the time! even in korea we know of some places where they "recycle" the 'xiao cai' (small dishes of kimchi and others when you order any meals)... China as well when you go to their "zhi cha" stalls...
after reading these, I feel like eating home cooked food

It all depends on the workplace and the person managing.
I used to work as a chef, and I take pride in my work.
I would never knowingly serve or allow staff to serve expired stuff,
even though i know they can still be used.. maybe distribute to staff for consumption.
But recycling consumables, whether edible or not, is really too much.
Numero Uno rule of any F&B operation: Hygiene 1st.
[edit] Oh btw, can PM me as well?
yup. i worked as assistant in the kitchen before. the last thing u wanna do to ur customers to them is food poisoning. oh well, some boss just dun care, as long as got money.
anyway i was the supervisor in the service department(the restaurant that i pm-ed) there until i cant take it anymore when they still served/recycle things even though they know very well. the worse thing was we had to 'taste' them first before serving, see if the drinks are okay or not.
wat rubbish is that? we die 1st, then customers? L-)
these also show that there're a lot of S'poreans wasting food... if there's no wastage in the 1st place, they'd have nothing to recycle... when u go to a restaurant and see a bunch of gals getting together, they usually order more than they can finish... dunno their mentality, seriously

This I totally agree...:D
if the service crew is good, they will tell u the amount they have ordered. most of the times, if too much (sometimes customers assume the quantity is small), they will inform the customers. :D
