Plot Summary: "Fast and Furious 3: Tokyo" is written by Chris Morgan ("Cellular"), who places the third entry in Tokyo: in this adrenalized new story, set in the sexy, underground world of Japanese drift racing, the newest and fastest customized rides go head-to-head on some of the most perilous courses ever seen.

"Fast and Furious 3: Tokyo" follows the story of Shaun Boswell, who has always been an outsider. A loner at school, his only connection to the indifferent world around him is through illegal street racing -- which has made him particularly unpopular with the local authorities. To avoid jail time, Shaun is sent out of the country to live with his uncle in the military, in a cramped apartment in a low-rent section of Tokyo.

In the land that gave birth to the majority of modified racers on the road, the simple street race has been replaced by the ultimate pedal-to-the-metal, gravity-defying automotive challenge ... drift racing, a deadly combination of brutal speed on heart stopping courses of hairpin turns and switchbacks.

For his first unsuccessful foray in drift racing, Shaun unknowingly takes on D.K., the "Drift King," with ties to the Yakuza, the Japanese crime machine. wah...the cars inside are amazing,as the movie title...lots of drifting inside.
story wise...quite similiar to Initial D,all scores settle using race.

Yup, shadowdancer is correct. The earlier parts are all about drag racing. Part 3 concentrates on drifiting. :yeah:

Just caught the 7pm show....not bad, most of the drifting seems 'line' and real, except one part whereby they have abt 6 cars rifting up the hillroad....

Overall not too bad, nice cars, even nicer jap babes.....although the lead man sucks......prefer the prev guy - pual walker. At least paul walker got a bit 'cool w/o trying too hard' look.....while this new guy looks like a nerdy kid at times.......personally prefer this to part 2, maybe I just pro jap, drifting is soooo way cooler compared to a 10sec flat out drag.......

* The RB26DETT(Motor found in the Nissan Skyline GT-R) powered Mustang in the film has been subject to much criticism by fans of both US domestic cars and JDM cars. The criticism grew when it was revealed that the car itself barely had any screen time and regular, V8 powered Mustangs were used instead for most of the drift scenes.[22] [23]
o According to SCC, 1 Mustang received the RB26 swap, while 5 other Mustangs were created for drifting purposes. 2 were destroyed in the process.[24]
o In addition, the RB26 Mustang was shown to be faster than its V8 powered kin, with times of 0-60 in 5.38 seconds, and the quarter mile in 13.36 seconds at 109.83 MPH.[25]
* The S15 Silvia which Black's character trashes in his first race in Japan is depicted as having an RB26DET engine swap which itself is donated to the Mustang. However, the car used was actually powered by the S15's base SR20DE engine[26].
* The Veilside Fortune body-kitted RX-7 driven by Sung Kang's character was originally built by Veilside for the 2005 Auto Salon but was later bought by Universal and repainted (the original was dark red and not orange and black like in the film)[27].
