hide though not a guitarist with the best techniques in Japan, but he is definitely one of the best entertainer with great technical knowledge and song writting.

IMO, he is someone very bright, fun and attention seeking on the front. But deep inside he is quite depressing and lonely...

Someone comes close to his style will be Miyavi. Can see from his solo works now. Very bright shocking and fun music.
