I was able to play with Daimos at the C3X Chara Hobby. Very good diecast content...especially in the legs. The transformation is very intuitive and a remarkeable feat of engineering. I think Bandai did this figure justice. I enjoyed tinkering with the fig...though converting back to tranzer mode is a bit of a pain since I needed to massage the panels in place

I held the box and it was very very heavy. Daimos alone is already heavy with diecast...what more with the weapons. Sadly I wasn't able to test them :(

I really loved the way they designed the leg panels. Its more like a transformer than an SOC. I didn't need to read the instruction manual.

Some not so good points though...aside from massaging the panels back into tranzer mode (panels are diecast btw), I find the head to be very floppy...both tranzer and robot head. I accidentally popped the tranzer head out and only saw that i was being held by a very small and short peg :(. The robot head "ears" were made of not so good quality plastic. Also, the tranzer head can't separate from the body like the vintage one. One consolation is that the I noticed the wheels under it can rotate, simulating a turning action :)

other than those...I think Daimos will still be a hit. I had to line up just to hold, transform and play with it :)

I think the paint chips would occur on the panels covering the tranzer and eventually the legs. But when I was transforming it, it didn't have any paint chips. The chest area is diecast too, but thankfully when its in tranzer mode it tilts a little, not in contact with the tranzer shell that covers that part (which is plastic btw)

If Daimos was in a kick pose, I doubt if he can hold it for very long. The lower legs and the double jointed knee are made of diecast and will be too heavy. The arms can hold on their own..since the shoulders are on a ratchet joint.
