This is really my favourite, Japanese train models :supz:

Anybody also interested? Although I haven't bought any yet due to the price, but got myself magazines and catalogs...also not cheap. From realiable sources, I think in SG there might be only 2 persons taking up this hobby, not including me because it is too expensive for me 8-)

This is cool, but I need to find space for it. But I prefer the older type of trains. If I start this is going to be hell, what to do? [-X

Does it runs on track? I am kind of fascinated with choo-choo trains on complicated tracks with smoke and sound effects when young :) it costs a bomb to get a really good set.

a good set starscream refering to from Germany will cost you a few K :D

Even got $$ to buy but a space to build it and run will be tough unless got empty room in houses :(

Yes Meow. That was what I was referring to.. wonder can dedicate half a room with table to run it.. and a big acrylic casing to seal it from dust? What a conversation piece it will be but quite impractical in public housing :D

Usually 2 types are popular, 1 is those from europe and is usually Germany. 2nd is from Japan.

These trains comes in common 2 sizes, HO and N Gauge. Gauge is the measurement for the distance between the tracks. HO trains are big but cost less whereas N guage is smaller, and of course cost much more exp

They run on tracks, requiring power and controllers. Usually your house won't have space for HO. My big boss in the previous company is a collector, and the train runs on his ceiling, amazing...

Japanese are usually N Gauge and since I like jap trains, I will buy one of those one day  One set cost around SGD300 - 400...only 6 trains. But the quality of the trains is super solid...I believe anybody who sees it will love it, especially guys. I saw an austrailia ang moh who made a replica of a town in Japan and the train crossing roads and stopping at stations, all the secenary looks very nice. I try to find his link and post up.

If anyone pass by Orchard Hotel (should be opposite Thr Forum), there is a shop at level 2 seling those germany trains, can take a look, but the ah soh see me only know I am not customer, bo chap

The houses can be bought in packages. They will supply with with stickers and all that tomake it look nice. But not cheap, one small convenient store costs about SGD$30.

I recently send an enquiry for a train set, but sad to know that the voltage for the set is 100V, so not compatible with local 220V. Will a transformer work?

I have never used a transformer before. Need to be special mod?

If the item is of (100V, 50/60Hz), can I just get a transformer from off the shelf which says (220V > 100V / 100V > 220V)? It sounds ok right? I have never got any electrical items from overseas before, so must make sure can work 1st
