It's four doors. Look at the hidden back door handles like the Alpha Romeo / Seat / Concept CZ3 from 2001 :hello:

Wah 2 door version means this is the Civic Type-R.

Review of the Honda Civic Si 2006 have nothing but praise for the automobile. This really could be the best Civic ever created.

Honda's venerable Civic is now in its 8th incarnation, and the car just keeps getting better and better. As soon as the automotive press got its grubby little mitts on the latest small sedan/coupe from Honda, it went gaga over its new styling, refinement and value. The public loves this latest Civic as well, with January '06 boasting more Civic sales than any other January in history.

While we already spent time behind the wheel of the latest Civic sedan, we wanted more time with the Civic. More specifically, we wanted time with the race-inspired Civic Si. We have been hearing that this latest hopped-up Civic is the best Civic ever, and that it more than makes up for the lackluster 7th-gen EP Civic Si hatch. Is this latest Civic really that good?

The short answer is "yes". The long answer is, "this Civic is everything we hoped it would be and more." Yes, this latest Civic Si is just that awesome.

Honda's latest Si is a coupe once again, which alone should mean that this latest car will sell better than the unloved EP hatch. This new coupe looks good -- it's got clean and aggressive lines, a sporty front fascia and properly-sized 17-inch wheels. We're not feeling the factory wing -- it's a little too "sculpted" for our tastes. We'd prefer this car without the wing... Or maybe a Type-R-inspired wing would look better...

As is the case with all Hondas, the inside of the Si is a very comfortable place to be. The unique staggered/spaceship-looking dash returns, as does the fat and comfy steering wheel. Due to the extreme rake of the windshield, the dash is HUGE. The new Civic probably has the biggest dash we've ever seen, but it doesn't present any problems while in the car. Even with the acres of plastic real estate in front of us, we still found the forward visibility to be excellent.

We were fortunate enough to get our test Civic equipped with a 350-watt stereo (with XM Satellite Radio) and Honda's excellent nav system. This Honda nav unit is the same one found in Honda and Acura's other vehicles, and we have found it to be one of the most user-friendly nav systems around. We're super-stoked that Honda decided to make this nav system available in the sporty Si.

The seats in the Si are great as well. The side bolsters are nice and fat, so these seats really hold us in place. With the Civic being so fun to toss around corners, it's nice to have a seat that doesn't let us fly all throughout the cabin

And this brings us to the driving experience; this is probably the best-driving Civic ever - and yes, we are including the EK and EP Type-Rs. Hell, this is one of the best-driving sport compacts ever. The 197 horsepower K20 is eager to rev, and it works harmoniously with the slick-shifting 6-speed manual gearbox. Clutch effort is so light, it's almost effortless to use, which is a great thing for those times we have to drive this car in heavy stop-and-go traffic.

The ride is firm, but not punishing. This suspension, though not the kick-ass double wishbone suspension of Civics past, is more than up to the task of keeping this car planted in the corners. Cornering in this car... oh man, is it great. We don't know if it's the standard limited-slip differential, the suspension tuning or the 7-inch wide summer tires, but this car just loves to be driven hard in the corners. It never gets scary taking this car through the twisties -- the Civic's balance and laser-like precision makes it a cinch to blast through even the curviest roads. We found ourselves taking turns/overpasses/whatever at incredibly high speeds. Even under our abuse, the Civic didn't want to understeer or go into snap oversteer. This latest Civic Si has got to be one of the best-handling front-drive cars ever.

The New Civic Si is so perfect (in our eyes), that it's hard to come up with anything bad to say about it. We could say that the side/rear visibility isn't that great, but that seems to be the case with all new cars. That said, the side/rear visibility is passable, so we won't dock too many points for this. We could also use a bigger trunk, too. But then we have to carry more stuff than the average person. As most people don't have to haul around drums sets or other tools of rock, we're sure that the 11.5 cubic foot trunk is more than adequate for most needs.

We've gone on record as saying that the Mitsubishi EVO will be the next car we buy. Well, this newest Civic is so good, the EVO now has some serious competition. Sure the EVO is a lot faster and has all sorts of cool race-bred technology, but the Si is just as fun to drive. More importantly, the Civic Si is a lot more refined, is a lot more reliable, has a lot more interior features and it's about ten thousand dollars cheaper.

The Civic Si starts at $19,990. The car is already fully loaded at that price, so we think it's a steal. Even with the nav system installed, the car still comes in at just $21,940. That is the steal of the century!

If we were looking to buy a new car, the new Civic Si would be at the very top of our list. It combines a fun, spirited ride with superb refinement and a ridiculously cheap price. Can this car get any better? We don't know, but we'll find out in a few weeks when we get to drive the HFP version of the Si. We can't wait...

We just finished writing our praise-filled review of Honda's new Civic Si when we got word that there will be a new Civic Si before the end of the year.

For the first time ever, Honda will be offering a sedan version of its sportiest Civic. A Civic Si Sedan Concept was just revealed at the Chicago Auto Show, and we must say that this is the best-looking Civic sedan yet.

Well okay... the Civic Hybrid Sport Sedan (from the '05 Tokyo Motor Show) and the Civic Dominator (from the '06 Tokyo Auto Salon) are way more bad-ass. But as far as U.S.-spec Civics are concerned, this Si concept isn't too bad. Besides, unlike the Hybrid Sport or Dominator concepts, the Si Sedan concept will be available at all Honda dealerships and it will look remarkably close to the concept pictured here.

The good news about this sedan is that it will keep all of the Si Coupe's excellent features. This means that the 2.0-liter 194-horsepower engine, limited slip differential, slick 6-speed gearbox and everything will come over to the sedan fully intact. Oh yeah, now that the Si is available as a sedan, more than 1 passenger can ride along in comfort.

So what's not hot about the Civic Si sedan concept? Well, we really like the 4-piston Brembo brakes, the custom 18-inch wheels and the aero kit, but chances are these pieces won't make it onto the final production-spec car. Bummer...

Oh well, it's not like the absence of those pieces really matters. This is a Civic Si after all, so we're sure that aftermarket companies will have all of these pieces available the minute this car hits showrooms.

The Civic Si sedan is slated to go on sale in late 2006 as a 2007 model. Damn, now we have to choose between two Civic Sis... While we wait for this car to hit showrooms, be sure to check out our Media Page for more pictures of this kick-ass sedan.

The first thing that most people will notice on the Honda Factory Peformnce (HFP) Civic Si will be the anthracite 18-inch sport wheels wrapped in high-performance 215/40ZR-18 rubber. We're not totally feeling the design of the wheels, but they're sure to appeal to many in the tuner set.

All four of these wheels are attached to a beefed-up suspension. As with all suspensions deemed "beefy", the spring and damper rates are set to "firm" and do a damn fine job preventing body roll. Oh yeah, this suspension also brings the car an inch lower to the ground. With the stiffer suspension and smaller tire sidewalls, the Civic Si feels even better in the twisty stuff. On straight roads however, the ride is very firm -- it's almost too firm for us. On bumpier roads, we thought our fillings would fall out. But luckily for the exposed nerves under those pieces of mouth metal, our fillings stayed in.

To be fair, our HFP test car was equipped with many pre-production pieces, so the HFP stuff you pick up from the dealer may feel a lot more civilized on city roads. Stiff or not, this suspension sure made the Civic extra fun to toss around corners.

Another key extra on our HFP Civic is the full color-matched aero kit. As if we need to say it, the full HFP aero kit covers the front bumper, side skirts and rear bumper of the car. We gotta say, it does a great job of making the lower portion of the Civic look a lot more sporty. We parked our HFP Civic next to a standard Si, and our car looked a whole hell of a lot better.

The HFP kit now includes a sport-tuned muffler as part of the package. This muffler sounds great, and it gives the high-revving four a deep and rich tone. We drove this car by many of the tuning industry's "big wigs", and every single one of them wanted to talk to us about just how good the Civic sounded. It totally caught us off guard, as we didn't think that aftermarket companies would be excited about a Honda factory exhaust…

As good as the exhaust sounds, it's just a muffler, meaning there aren't any big performance gains. The bigger tip and canister do look a lot better than the stock Si's oval-wrapped pea shooter.
