Hey guys, the vol 1 had just released. It is drawn by 何志文. 1 of my top 3 favourite HK artist.

I heard that this is a bi-weekly released which means every 2 weeks will release 1 vol just like 天下 :hello:

The standard is not bad, maintaining the usual quality of 何志文. This comic will be fully coloured and will be as close to the original as possible, which is what I always wanted about novel translated to comics.

A good title to catch :supz:

I bought the first vol yesterday, abit boring to me after reading it. Can expected that the fighting scenes will not be as good as Jue Shi Wu Shuang or Jue Dai Shuang Jiao due to the novel.

i just browse tru last week. i think the style and standard maintain as his previous title...i agree with hades...1st issue a bit boring.... hope the coming one will be more interesting :D

Maybe I abit wierd, but whenever I see comics with alot of words I am very happy, makes me think that they are working :laugh: :laugh:

To me, those concentrate too much on fighting are bored :( So when I see the 1st issue so many words and it will follow the original closely, it appeals to me well :D

U mean compilation book? What does TPB stands for anyway??? Anyone knows how long the story for this novel last? So far as I know, Xia Ke Xing should be 1 of the shortest among Jin Yong's novel. Any idea??

actually i was hoping to see improvement fr zhiwen....common prob for HK artists...maintain at certain standard then stagnant.....actually its good to see the style changing in drawing for mah rong chen....at least shows improvement....

This will probably be more like adding pictures to the novel and make it more colourful. But standard should maintain.

Yeah, the arts maintained his standard. However, I never ever seen He Zhi Wen's standard dropped before leh. JD should learn from him man :laugh:

The recent issues can sees that the standard abit dropped for the coloring.. I thought that He Zhi Wen going to use those fen zi printing?? Abit dissappointed leh if carries on like this :(

From his post, seems like drop 2 ways. Fen Zi he used in Jue Shi also, than after sometime stopped because of cost issues. Normal paper still ok lah, but for coloured drawings, the effect won't be as good if not FenZi :|

I usually just flip through, seems like still acceptable, shouldnt' be too bad right?

Arts still maintain but the printing coloring goes back to the old ways :( Overall, still a good 1 I can says ;)

Yeah, he was testing on the printing using normal papers as trying to cut down the budgets. But the outcome appeared terrible and change back to glossy again. At least he is sincere by explaining to us that he will maintain his work/standard by not letting us down. :hello: :supz: :dance:

何志文 is one of the few surviving hk comic creator that I respect.:prayer:

I did not buy this title, but flipped every issue, art seem to maintain except that normal papers really could not achieve the effect.

Shu Jian's colouring standard will be there, but HK weekly is still using the good quality paper like Four constables right? TPB will not use it, so the appearance may be lacking.

If She Diao the artwork still maintain than at least got reason to keep lor, the worst is seeing off-shape faces :(

If u have seen the TBP of four constables before, the paper quality is exactly the same as the HK weekly issues... Maybe u got to ask the boss to open up for u to take a look first lor before getting it... SInce u knows that lady boss mah, should be no problem... :)

The paper those normal type, not gross type.

In fact i like normal type more than gross type. Gross paper are suppose to be use by magazine:question:

Though gross paper can show better effect but i just don't like it becos don't have the comics feel:evil:

I prefered gross paper type. Normal types easily turn yellow after long period. Of course not everyone can really maintained their HK wkly titles with their perfect condition... So I'll go for grossy types instead... More brightness and more colorful... Really nice comparing to those normal paper... :)

But in terms of nice coloring printing, glossy paper shall be the best choice. If anyone here had collects the HK issues of shu jian en chou lu, u will knows the big difference.

He Zhi Wen once tried to test printing, using the normal paper. He did this as he wants to save cost. Inthe end, the results turned out "bad". He changed back using the glossy paper again for the next issues as he goes for quality not trying to save any cost in his mind. This is what I admired of him man :thumbsup: Unlike Tony Wong, suka suka used glossy paper for those 100 issues or 1 yr anniversary etc..., whenever they wants :(

Just compared the Shao Nian Zui Ming Ban which is the side story of si da ming bu, it is using the normal paper. As for the current si da ming bu, it is using the glossy paper. The difference is really big if u compared them carefully. Can u imagined that if Si Da Ming Bu is not using glossy paper in future, I thinks the whole work will totally goes downhill liao...

Of course, I respect others decision. Each have their own points of view... Hoped I did not offenced anyone here ah... heh...

I think its the way the drawings are done. For Shu Jian and Ming Bu, gloss paper will show the standard better. But for normal colouring, normal paper should do fine.

I'll advise u to go for shu jian en chou lu better... I can sees that She Diao standard abit drop liao from the current issues. The faces they draw, sometimes not stable 1. Abit letdown to Louis fans like us :(

Just noticed that shu jian tbp might not be using those glossy types paper for printing. Though I never open up before and browse through inside, but from the look at the side view, I thinks they are using those normal paper :thinking:

After price conversion, its about $3 per issue, which is not much difference compared to weeklys...I better wait a while, have the urge than buy. Now concentrating on completing Da Tang novels. :)

19 issues down the road, the story has reached about one quarter of the original novel. Finally, 乾隆 is making an appearance.:)

That young fellow is 乾隆's (東方耳) son. His name is 福康安. He looks like 陈家洛 because it is a hint that 乾隆 and 陈家洛 are blood related.
Here is a quote from the novel
原来乾隆的皇后是大臣傅恒的姊姊。傅恒之妻十分美貌，进宫来向皇后请安之时，给乾隆见到了，就和她私通而生 了福康安。傅恒共有四子，三个儿子都娶公主为妻。傅恒懵懵懂懂，数次请求让福康安也尚主而为额驸，乾隆只是 微笑不许。他儿子很多，对这私生子偏生特别钟爱。福康安与陈家洛面貌相似，只因两人原是亲叔侄，血缘甚近。 陈家洛不知内中尚有这段怪事
福康安 is a bloody bad guy. He also appears in another 金庸 novel 飞狐外传.

This series finally comes to an end. A very hush ending. Too bad this prove that zhi wen can't handle two books at one time. Now that he has 笑傲星河 in his hand, and he is going to release Jue Shi 2 in the next two months. I highly doubt that he can handle both unless... well he drops 笑傲星河...:D
