With only a few more days to go before Marvel’s first family makes it into the cinema screens across the nation, USA WEEKEND Magazine had this past Sunday offered an exclusive sneak peek at the upcoming Fantastic Four movie with a poster drawn by Marvel artist Bryan (Ultimates) Hitch.
Hitch, who redesigned the characters for the Ultimate Fantastic Four comic series last year, had also embedded extras in the poster, such as Dr. Doom, Galactus, the Silver Surfer, Mole Man and the Puppet Master, including a USA WEEKEND newsstand.
As for how he got the gig, Hitch told Newsarama: “USA Today Weekend went to Avi [Arad], Avi went to Dan [Buckley, Marvel Publisher] and Joe [Quesada, Marvel EiC] and they came to me. USAW and Marvel West wanted the "Eggs" Joe and I wanted the dynamism and I left a huge space open on the left as there was originally to be a load of copy there. I would have designed it differently had I realized it was to be copy free but there you go.”
The Twentieth Century Fox movie is directed by Tim Story, produced by Stan Lee, Avi Arad and Mark Radcliffe and stars Ioan Gruffudd as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, Jessica Alba (Susan Storm/Invisible Woman), Michael Chiklis (Ben Grimm/The Thing), Chris Evans (Johnny Storm/Human Torch) and Julian McMahon (Dr. Doom). The movie hits the big screens July 8.
