Hello,

Couldn't find any laksa threads so decided to start one. My favorite dish since childhood, tried many many places (you have to believe me for this lol) and, nothing beats the KATONG LAKSA in Holland Village.

Then again, it is a matter of perspective but, heck! Katong Laksa from Holland Village ftw!!!

Regards,
Vers

hmmm... the laksa that i find that are good are:

1) jie shuang jiao (frost bridge) - its near simlim/sungei area. there got a very nice 5 xiang also. Description: small bowls, $2 and $3. nice and fragrant, bee hoon very soft, eat with spoon only.

2) TPY central blk 175- note: must go in the evening, preferably after 8pm. if not, its abit lacking in favour... not thick enough.

Used to like Katong Laksa a lot, but since it became more and more common, I have not eat it for quite some time. Nowadays I frequent another stall which is quite popular around that vicinity, but have to go early because they are usually sold out by 7pm.

Yishun Central Blk 928 or 930~ Its a small snack shop, and the owners are a couple (uncle and auntie). Be careful not to go to the other shop, it is a poor imitation. Normal $2.20, Large $3.

Haha, looks like they are quite popular though its a very small stall :D
Only thing not so good is that their system is not to cook it fast, so the wait is usually quite long.

But its no longer at Depot Road, its moved to Alexandra Village.

The one originally at Depot Road had moved to a coffeeshop at Radin Mas (Telok Blangah). They then opened the other one in Alexandra Village, and then another one at Vivo City Food Republic. So now total got 3 as I know. Not sure whether they have the same owner or are franchised.

Don't be confused with other stores claiming to be "Depot Road Claypot Laksa", eg. the one at Depot Heights.

Its normal laksa served in claypot. At least thats what they did when i eat there many yrs ago. Nowadays, i only get my family to pack for me, so i am not sure if the claypot untensil is still being used or not...

I see, thought it had a unique twist to it or something. Only had this 'one' preset imagination of claypot. Ha.

Well, to be honest I've tried many stalls with the name "KATONG LAKSA" and all claim to be original, though they all taste very differently. Anyone has actually tried the Holland Village Katong Laksa? Oh well then again, taste is pretty subjective lol.

I am not sure if the claypot does help, but their laksa is really not bad.=D>

radin mas is very misleading.
which part of radin mas?

telok blangah cresent is under radin mas, bukit purmei also under radin mas.

telok blangah cresent itself has 3 coffee shops and 1 market.
bukit purmei has 2 coffeshops.

so far i did not see any exceptionally long queues at any of these coffee shops for the past 1 month. So either the TB/RM branch is not very spectacular, or I've been look a the wrong places.
