Reborn Venom Hunts Spider-Man and Red Sonja
Exclusive: Who is in control of the symbiote in this twisted crossover - Peter Parker or Eddie Brock?

This summer Marvel Comics and Dynamite Entertainment are teaming to revisit a crossover that comic book fans are sure to enjoy. Spider-Man is teaming with Red Sonja in an adventure that will pit them against Venom and Kulan Gath. The five issue mini-series will be taking place in the past, though within continuity. Michael Avon Oeming will be handling the script, with Mel Rubi on art and Michael Turner on covers.
Details on the storyline are scarce, though we have heard that Mary Jane is actually transformed into the She-Devil With a Sword. That's probably a good idea since Spidey has always had a thing for battle-ready females (see: Black Cat). You can't be accused of scandalous behavior with another girl when your wife is also that other girl. The conflict with Venom also seems pretty self-explanatory as a plot in the past would permit Eddie Brock to be healthy and capable of seeking his revenge.
Today Marvel dropped IGN Comics a wonderful present. In celebration of Venom's big screen debut, we have the first interior artwork from the series. These pages, by Rubi, are from the second issue and feature everyone's favorite anti-Spidey.
But wait - who exactly is turning into the monster here?
Marvel, always being the tricky, teasing company that it is, sent us Rubi's pencils fresh from the drawing board. That means we have no inking or colorization for reference. We noticed something a bit odd as we looked over the black-and-white panels. Doesn't that look like Peter Parker to you? The character in these three pages clearly looks shocked and tormented by the image of Venom in the mirror. We'd also expect Eddie Brock to be physically larger and more intimidating. Suddenly this person is transported to some other world, becoming Venom in the process. Perhaps this alternate reality transforms people into their worst fears? We've already heard that Mary Jane becomes Sonja (maybe she dislikes swords and chain mail?)... is a Peter/Venom combination far behind?
Keep in mind we're speculating, as we often do within our teaser articles. Though Venom and Kulan Gath are confirmed enemies, perhaps a portion of the series features Peter Parker wrestling to break free of a spell or twisted new reality. Maybe we're reading into things too much.
