U caught my attention with that thread title lor, Chris.

I am still enjoying my Visual Rock and J-rock now pretty much. :prayer:
But i find we are lacking of a Music, TV, Movies, Entertainment corner here. :read:

Eng Cheong, possible to have such a corner for members to discuss something like that?
Can have categories like:

1. Music
1.1 Asian (Japanese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien and whatever u can find in Asia lah)
1.2 Caucasian (English and whatever from Europe and America lor.)
1.3 Others

2. TV/Movies
2.1 TV (TV programmes, dramas, variety shows and whatever showing on our tv or scv cable)
2.2 Movies (past releases, current films and any coming soon films discussions)
2.3 Others (sports, VCD/DVD, etc etc)

3. Animes
This one, i cant really think of something to break it into a more sections. Animes are animes lor, impossible to categorise them leh... :|

BUT THEN, the most impt thing we need to let everyone know is that:
No discussions on downloading, trading or selling of the above sections's topics. Like asking ppl where to download this movie, anime or tv show. NO! We must make ourselves clear that we are clean from them. Dun wanna catch attentions from "ppl from the top" lor. [-X (Guys, i guess most of u males here serve army before or still serving now. U should know the SAF 8th Core Value. Get what i mean. :director: )

Very lor soh i am, but its for the benefits of this forum and our members.
(Then i will have a new place to spread the beauty of Visual Rock liaoz. 8-) )

And so obvious that i didnt add in the list above with bands too famous lor. :salute:

the one and only,
the most beloved and respected rock band in Japan......

X JAPAN

and Dir en grey, Penicillin, La cryma Christi, Malice Mizer.... :salute:

J-rock is a term used to label Japanese rock music. But i think the Japaneses themselves dun call it j-rock, not even the term j-pop.(if i am not wrong).

J-rock will categorise into many sections.
Visual Kei
Angura Rock
Punk Rock

These are main sections. Actually there are more terms like Gothic, Death, Dark etc etc

Those whom never seen X Japan performed live, will finally understand why this band is so well respected in Japan and regard as the best band ever in Japan.
I was told that they said best band and not rock band coz they deserve the name.

U can also see why our beautiful Yoshiki needed to wear a neck brace so regularly in lives. He is simply hammering the drums and flinging away.:supz:

Toshi vocals are loud and bright from day1 till the day X Japan disbanded.

Anyone noticed that hide seems to be isolated away from the rest??? Toshi and Yoshiki is far, well there is reason. But why is Heath and Pata standing together, which is quite a distance away from hide???:|

Actually, X Japan's success had a few periods.
They only got very famous on their 2nd album "Blue Blood". For the Blue Blood Tour, X Japan became the 1st band to perform in Tokyo Dome three nights in a row when every single ticket had been sold.

Then was Art of Life album. It was 1st in the Japanese charts on the first week of its release!

Then was their last album Dahlia. Its more like a compilation album, coz the songs were released as singles along the production.

X Japan wouldnt had disbanded if Toshi had not been "brain washed" by those weird religious sect...
X Japan would had reformed if hide did not die in an accident...:(
After the departure of Toshi and disband of X Japan in 1997, Yoshiki actually discussed with hide to reform back the band in 2000 with another singer. But hide's death in the 1998 broke Yoshiki's dream...

There is a saying that "God is jealous of genius". They had took hide away. I really hope they can spare Yoshiki behind. We havent been hearing much news of him for quite some time already...:|
I think Yoshiki is not able to write songs for singers other then Toshi. Afterall they are childhood friends. Most of X Japan songs were tailor-made to Toshi by Yoshiki.

Chris, u will like to know this.

PENICILLIN nano is a new band created by PENICILLIN’s vocalist and guitarist, Hakuei and Chisato. The plan is to create new songs, but they also plan on remixing certain PENICILLIN hits as well.

They will participate in the Stylish Wave Circuit 06 tour, at Shibuya O-West (Tokyo) on May 30th.
Credits: JaME

OMG!!! Hakuei with Kiyoshi for Machine not enough, now find Chisato to form another band!!!:whistling
Wonder what the music style will be this time. Will definitely watch out for this liaoz.:shooting:

Hakuei is really very unique. He can create music for his own solo, Machine and Penicillin. Yet all 3 of them have different music style.
Hakuei's solo is more smoothing. Machine is totally wild and electronic(fav of 3). Penicillin... Now and then will have not bad surprises with overall good members.=D>

Longing ~Melody

words & music: Yoshiki

Even pain is seen in words, even tears gather.
Someday, memories will flourish.
That's why it's an unchained melody, hold my heart
I will still be alive tomorrow, even if I can no longer meet you.

Sing without you, I'II sing without you,
can't you feel my heart, falling through the rain.
I sing without you, I'II sing with out you,
can't you hold me tears, cause still I love you.
I cant face the thought of being alone,
I sing for the song still carries on.

Hold my heart, memories are still singing, even if i have no voice.
Sing without you, I'll sing without you,
can't you feel my pain, there's nothing I can do.
I still have a longing for your memory, even if the memory is only pain.
I won't let my feelings show.
Now, I don't want to be alone.
In the pouring rain, it all must be a dream, from tomorrow on...

Sing without you, I'll sing without you,
can't you feel my heart, falling through the rain.
I sing without you, I'II sing without you,
can't you hold my tears, cause still I love you.
Sing without you, I'll sing without you,
can't you feel my heart, falling through the rain.
I sing without you, I sing without you,
can't you hold my tears, cause still I love you.

Translation how accurate i dunno sia... Is ripped off from other websites wan.

Schwarz Stein's New Vogue Children. I feel loved suddenly.

Closer…closer…come close to me
and stand before me with closed eyes
H arder…harder…shake me; only then
will I let you hold me tight

It was I who conceived you my
unborn children of sodomy
You must cry your newborn cry
and awaken to my call

If your wings have been broken
and you can no longer move
Come to find your peace with me,
nestled here against my chest
I will welcome you to this place
where flowers forever bloom
And will give to you a dream
from which you will not awake

Now I call upon you, come to me
my unborn children of sodomy
And devour all the ignorants, the heterosexuals
So hideous in your beauty
“my new vogue children”

If your wings have been broken
and you can no longer move
Come to find your peace with me,
nestled here against my chest
I will welcome you to this place
where flowers forever bloom
And will give to you a dream
from which you will not awake

To be fair to the "more" popular X Japan's ballad. (though i still think Longing is nicer lor...:pray2: )

Forever Love
music & words: yoshiki

I'll never walk alone again, the winds of time are to strong.
Ah, it's that what you hurts, which you'll have to live with...
Ah, this tight embrace, and this burning, unchanged heart.
In this ever changing time, love will never change.

Will you hold my heart? Stop flowing tears.
Again, all of my heart is broken....

Forever love, forever dream
Only flowing emotions,bury this intense,
trying, meaningless times.
Oh tell me why ... all I see is blue in my heart.

Will you stay with me? Wait until after the wind passes,
all my tears are still flowing...

Forever love, forever dream Stay with me like this.
Hold my trembling heart in the dawn.
Oh stay with me...

Ah, everything good seems to be ending,
in this unending night.
Ah, what else would you lose if nothing at all matters.

Forever love, forever dream, stay with me like this.
Hold my trembling heart in the dawn.

Oh will you stay with me... Until the wind passes,
stay with me again.

Forever love, forever dream, I'll never walk this path.
Oh tell me why, tell me true, teach me how to live.
Forever love, forever dream, within flowing tears
Bright seasons will forever change again and again ....
forever love...

I think they are more raw and wild in their early days. They created more rock and heavy stuff. Whatsmore, they look best then. Till date, there arent anyone who is comparable to Yoshiki's beauty and talents.:prayer:
Till their later half of their career, they created more ballads and easy listening songs. Turning their heads to commercialise too...
Sigh... if only Toshi did not give up on the band. If only hide did not die...:(
Yoshiki wouldnt have becaome so sad and still not recover till date...

How does one 'sound' Visual? I thought Visual is 'look'?

whahahaa
gd qns. IMO, its a very individual set of "rules" what is visual music.

For me, there are some set of "requirements".
1) Wild. Totally WILD, with screamings and eerie sounds:sing:
2) Fast and irregular guitar / bass playings.

Songs i like are like the early works of Dir en grey (Yokan, Zan, [KR] cube). Read my lips, early works of Dir en grey...:(

Then of course the God of Visual Rock - X Japan. They have many interesting songs in their early days, but they are too "raw" to listen. So i am more into their Blue Blood - Dahlia era...:red:

There are those shorter life span bands like Aliene Mariage and Madeth gray'll. They are the typical Visual Bands in terms of music and images.:salute:

Penicillin is another of my fav. But personally i have to admit that they also only have better works in their earlier days... And their latest album Blue Heaven isnt up to their usual standards... :(

Godmaster
20-04-2007, 09:23 PM
Yeah i oso prefer earlier works of Penicillin. I rem last time when i 1st saw their MTV on SCV, i thought that their music is quite nice. That MTV is 'Make Love'. Then i come across their Ultimate Velocity album in Tower Records in orchard which was available to listen. So i go and try listen to the rest of the songs see how it was like. When it started playing the 1st song, which was Earth, i was like "Wowwww....". After which i made my way to make payment and burnt a major hole in my wallet.

That whole album is damn solid. But after that i think the following albums sort of drop their standard. Too noisy to make out what they are playing liao. :(

To me. The 90s, it's because they are breaking out of Japan to the international scene. Maybe Sony didn't know they will make it this big, if not they would have use X-Japan in the first place. If it's isn't for the international market, they would probably still known as X. Think in Japan they still refer them as X?

Hope Toshi and Yoshiki gets to work together real soon enough as rumours speculate.

No doubt thats one of the best vocalist in Japan we can to hear so far now. Toshi can hit high pitches and yet go screaming after that. He has a golden throat!:sing:

Yoshiki, his talents should be consider one of the best ever in Japan music history. Was he the 1st drummer to start using double pedals that frequently?
His talents in drums, piano and song writting, his royal beauty. They are all so untouchable...:prayer: :prayer:

But i still believe that Yoshiki will not collaborate with Toshi anymore... Yoshiki even went "low" to join Globe on jpop stuff, but just not sending the invitations to Toshi. That shows how much he doesnt want to have anything with him anymore... His love for hide is more than Toshi. The former's death proved to be too hard for Yoshiki...

hide actually isnt the best guitarist we see ard, but he is a born performer. Its his ability to perform and bring entertainment to fans.:salute:

well. We will know when there is an official release.

There has been sayings that Yoshiki is forming a super band himself. With Gackt, Sugizo, and rumored Miyavi and unknown fifth member.

Problem will be who will be the vocalist...:duh:

if this formation is genuine, then Yoshiki where got time to play with Toshi...:nah:

My cousin tells me this is the song
http://tv.mofile.com/6WMG74II/

Initially i let him tried Forever Love and Longing only. Then he gets himself deeper and seduced by Yoshiki and Toshi. In only a few mths time, he is now a more crazy X Japan fan than me. He digs all X Japan info now. He even trying to learn to play their ballads on piano now...
Weird thing is he doesnt like other visual rock bands...

Who like Yoshiki, please raise your hand.
Who like Gackt, please raise your hand.
Who like Miyavi, please raise your hand.
Who like Sugizo, please raise your hand.

With four raised hands, what will you get when you put these four celebrities together???

I don't really care for Visual Kei, but I love a plethora of Japanese rock bands, including "the pillows", "NUMBER GIRL", "bloodthirsty butchers", "Supercar", "Ellegarden" and much more.

hmm...
Looking at your list of bands. Would u also happen to like bands like Mr Children, B'z, Southern All Stars? :D

For me, i like all kinda japanese music lor. From their enka, to jpop, Visual Rock to those natsu matsuri tunes.

BUT my love will still be Visual Rock. It started with Gackt-sama and Dir en grey, then it slowly brought me to the X Japan, the mother of Visual Kei...:prayer:

Then u must try this 3 bands le.
They are consider more of the senior and higher in skill ones. For non visual rock bands, there are my fav. And among the three, B'z is the most fav.
its a two man band. I love the band coz of its guitarist, Matsumoto Tak. He is said to be the greatest guitarist in Japan and Asia! Btw, he was given a Les Paul from Gibson back in the late 90s. I guess that should explain his fame?:salute:
(How abt hide?! :D )

X Japan formed earlier than B'z. On the whole X Japan is famous as a band, but how come B'z individuals are more recognised...

I finally got to see the pv for I.V. and listen the clearer version of it

I have to be honest lah, it isnt the best song X Japan or Yoshiki has ever gave before.
But its the feel. The double pedals amazing piano skills from Yoshiki, and not forgetting his naked top.:D

But the most impt thing in this PV for me is that they gave a place to hide-sama...
A spot was kept for him, mic stand was placed with his guitar. And then now and then u get to see some past live scenes of hide too.

Btw, though Yoshiki is still ever beautiful, i think he put on a little bit of weight...
But cant blame also, he also has abit of age liaoz...:P
Really hope they can consider a world tour, world tour.:drum:
