1. what are the things i shd look out for eg specs?
1. the resolution, HD I think is 1024 x 748 at least
2. the speed of signal translation (dunno wht's that called technically)... juz make sure when u watch action movies (like Jackie Chan's), don't have lag...
3. various components output shld be available, like HDMI, component RGB (for DVD players), RS232 (if u're still using old devises), a few AV input/output, and the input for PC (forgot wht it's called)
4. LCD shld have no reflection, if not, u're actually looking at plasma ;) simiiarly no heat
2. any recommendations eg brand/ model ?
nope

Brand = Samsung. They are extremely famed for LCD monitors, so I think TV shouldn't be that far off.
Bro.. y nvr ask me.. i recomend u shop lah
I got lobang for LCD.. u wan branded or not branded??
Price can differ a lot lor...
If u wan branded... SHARP is much better than Samsung.. Samsung actualli got lots of probs... SHARP is so much more reliable..
No brand de.. can consider Hyundai.. they actualli use Samsung inner tube.. so the colour is definitely the best among all unBranded..
U wan noe more.. call mi lah.. i recommend u best.. cheaper than retailer confirm!!

I'm also looking for a 37" or bigger flatscreen TV. Should I go for a Plasma or LCD? What's the difference?
What's the difference?
1.Plasma got hard screen, LCD's screen is soft (but some brands coming up with hard screen also)
2. Plasma got reflection, LCD no reflection
3. Plasma is cheaper than LCD generally
4. both no/minimal radiation
5. Plasma's surface is hot
6. Plasma is available at bigger size (remember, LCD starts off as computer monitor)
Should I go for a Plasma or LCD?
it's up to u... both are trying to push one another out of the market, no clear winner yet... if u got small kids at home, better get plasma

Thks for the reply bro. Why is it better to get plasma if got small kids at home? I got a 2 year old kid at home.

coz LCD got soft screen... go Havey Norman and touch one of the LCD screen and u'll know wht I mean... kids are generally curious, if they see the screen getting funni when touched, they might want to experiment, oh well, juz my 2 cents :)
