When I bought mine, my friends intro me Lite-On internal DVD writer. Other brands worth considering is BenQ and LG. :)
Burning to DVD and watching on DVD players depend on the program. My Lite-On was bundled with Nero software, which is one of the better ones, best of all it's only S$63. :D
It must also depend whether the dvd player can read dvdrs anot. Although nowadays most can.

BenQ not really good. go for LG brand. if u wan to store data, best to use Maxwell DVD-R discs. U can try the shops at Sim Lim 6th flr to get them. $30 for 50 discs. good deal.
Eh i got S$25 for 50 DVDs-R X16 recently.

I think u have only two choices. (cant really rem its exact model no though...)
Its either the BengQ or LG wan.
I am using the LG model. So far yet to give me any problem. It supposes dvd+-R/RW and dvd ram. So basically everything is covered.
Price wise, i think u walk one round in sls, its a few dollars difference.
But i will really recommend not to save on the media(discs). Dun get those big quantity cheap dunno what brands. Go for those gd brands, u really get its price worth.

BenQ is good wor. Dont be faze by the name. Its OEM is philips. It is a DVD+R champion. Unless you are using DVD-R go for LG. So far so good benq have not fail me. The userbase is quite big also, one of the few drives that updates their firmware frequently to support new media codes.

Hi all,
just bought a LG dvd buner 16x dual layer but unable to burn dvd....
I am using Nero Express 6 to burn an original DVD.
I chose "Burn DVD-videoFiles" and start to drag the file i want to burn. Which option should i choose then?
"Image Recorder (DVD)" or "H: HLDT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H10N (DVD)"
I chose the later and click on the "Options" and set the "Book Type Settings" to "Automatic".
When i click on "Burn" button, i got the following messages;
"Required file "Video_TS.IFO" is not present."
"Required file"Video_TS.BUP" is not present."
"DVD-Video files compliance test failed. The resulting DVD-Video might be unplayable. Do you want to continue?"
Fearing that the end product will not be able to play on dvd player, i chose to cancel the whole process.
Can anyone with similar experience or expertise please advise?
Thanks a lot.

For burning DVD video, it must be converted to DVD-Video format prior to burning. But for most case, converting to DVD-video is not recommended/fesible due to the fact DIVX xvid format video is already compressed and not DVD quality. 200mb video into a 4gb trash.
Either convert to VCD format or burn as data for reading with DIVX compatible DVD player.
I supposed giving more detail on what you trying to burn.
I am trying to burn Inuyasha from a DVD source.
