Temp MSN solution

i guess alot of ppl can't get their msn up and running.
this is a temp solution i found at HWZ. Not sure if it works cause i'm using the web vwe. but many in HWZ says it does. so here goes

temp solution for msn messenger here's are the steps:


Open with Notepad: C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts

Add these 2 lines to the bottom:

65.54.239.80 messenger.hotmail.com
65.54.239.80 dp.msnmessenger.akadns.net

Save it and restart WLM

forgive me for being stupid, but the hosts file opens up as what extension?
Every time I click on it the Open With dialog comes up.

Start Notepad, Open the file from there. Much easier that way.

I turn on and off my computers about 3 times today and totally had no problem signing in when I turn on again.

My msn is on most of the time too. Maybe 20/7, sometimes I am just invisible. :D

remember folks, to del those two lines when the actual msn netwroks are up and running or when you can't connect again:thumbsup:

must be a temp site.. should be okay to leave it in the hosts file... you're basically just pointing your msn to a different server to chat... you can define even more if you have the addresses... i suggest keeping the hosts fil as a backup... rename to hosts.bak or something like that...
