Doesn't likes the idea for the way that it needs to change into smaller size sometimes. It doesn't looks a zelda game to me...
Somehow reminding me of a SNES game "Secret of Mana 3". Looks familiar

Recently just gotten hold of this cartridge through bidding from SG yahoo. I managed to solve the 1st quest at the minish wood and asked to looks for someone to repair the master sword.
I've learnt the spin attack to prove to the guard at the north-west side in order to allow me to pass through the new location. Just as I reached the new map/location and just walk within a few steps, the game gets hang and a high pitch sound keeps playing out which is quite irritaing. I reset the game a few times but the error still occurred whenever I walks into that map. I erased my previous record and start a new saving. Completed the 1st dungeon again and the same old problem again.
I immediately sent this defected item back to the seller and requests for a new cartridge since he is a middleman which ables to gets hold of gba cartridges. Waited patiently for a few days and finally I received the new cartridge. Again the same old error kept on appeared. Looks like I'll tried out this cartridge using my fren's console whether the problem still exist before I make the decision to change a new title. Well, he did explain to me that nobody ever complains about this game whom he had sold to except me. The seller had offered me to exchange for a new title but I'm only dying to play Zelda - the minish cap.
Any good one able to helps me?? Quite demoralising now. Paying for nearly $30 including posting fees liao, but gets a defected cartridge. Dun think is my SP console problem since it works perfectly alright with my 128mb flash card. Since I can play this game well at the starting till the 1st dungeon, my console should be working perfectly alright rite??
I did tried unscrewed the cover and take a good look at the chip. There was a big patch of black solid solder is found on the center which covers almost half of the chip. There wasn't such solder found in my old gb cartridge before. How come the new GBA cartridge had such big black solder on the chip?? Anyone can explained that??
There goes my Zelda :bang: No fate to play this game :(

$30? It is friendly version? alot of sellers on yahoo selling that :o
If it is original, than there might be chance that battery is used up, but usually not very possible unless it had changed many hands. I think there is a lifespan to catridges, but shouldn't have any black solder marks. Must refund wow :director:

Friendly?? Ehh...not really sure leh. I dun thinks that the cartridge is a friendly 1. Got a warranty sticker paste on the back though.
But the box's color looks quite fade and not as bright as the pic which I just compared from the site which I've found. Wah, dun tells me that I got hold of a friendly ver 1 hor... How to differentiate original and friendly?? Any experts??
Sian, dun have a digi cam with me else I definitely post it here to show u all.
Anyway, I dun thinks that the problem lies between the battery. If that so, it affected the savings only which means that couldn't even saved at all. But I doesn't have problems for the savings.
The seller did replied me that refund is doesn't allow but only for exchange for new cartridge or other titles. He did replies me that he was only a middleman and whats more, he replies me with good attitude and not in a hostile manners. If he is a conman, already ignored me by not replying back to me.
What should I do man  Looks like tomorrow needs to visits those game shops to take a good look at the original box to compare my current 1 liao.

Your one should be fake one, unfortunately. Compare the screw with ur original ones, they should be the same (not the common kinda of screw) if they are originals. The seal u see, compare it w a real one as well, it's not too surprising that they manage to reproduce a sticker.
The quality of the box print n art should be quite a good gauge cos originals would be of top quality while some of this would be lost from copying.
Other than saving, like I said in the other thread, problems like certain parts of the game freezing up might arise due to certain way hardware/software encoding was done and the copying method involved. Some games might have no problem at all even if it's a fake, of cos.
Best way to prevent such incidents is to get games from reputable shops. Nowadays prices are quite reasonable and competitive, but of cos not as low as $30. Seriously, even a preown Minnish Cap can fetch around $40 no problem.

From what I see, $30 is most likely the bootlegged version :(
The screw behind the original cart is unique. Tried finding that type of screwdriver but cannot be found
Bootlegs normally comes with a warranty sticker as it is used to cover up the screw (crossed type) as that type of screwdriver can be commonly found ;)

Yeah, just realised that I got hold of a friendly ver. I've visited some game shops and compared the boxes. The original box is much clearer and brighter compared to mine...

Cloudimus Prime very expert hor
I only know that once the fine wordings and printing is not clear, its bootleg version. But there are still many people buying them, they burn into something that allows them to play many games.
Hades dont' live in the east, if not can go to this shop at Century Square, mega multimedia. Their price resonable and staff got good knowledge.

You can wait for auctions to come up in yahoo, original 2nd hand usually goes for around $40 in good condition.

I must be blinded. Just noticed about the box that something just went wrong with the printing and colors. I never even take a good look at the box since I gotten hold of this game.
I was totally waken up when I read from Rookie's post that I probably gets a friendly ver cartridge. I immediately dig out the box and just as Eng Cheong's expected, a friendly game cartridge. Dun mind getting a friendly ver 1 if the game plays perfectly well since I normally will put it aside and collects dust once I completed the game..
Haiz... 便宜末貪啊 !!!

Wah, your 便宜末貪 must copy 100 times ah?
But than original version also expensive, I buy a few at $65 - $70, 1 month later, only can fetch $40...thats why many people go for friendly. but usually can work, maybe you got to change again :(

Finally completes this game. Quite dissappointed :( Not as good as Zelda - A link to the past. Some weak points that I shall listed here below...
1) game play is short
2) difficulties in dungeons are easy
3) last boss big sucks (too easy to defeat him)
4) No points to upgrade the arrows, shield, bomerang etc... Never affects the game at all.
Overall, imo there is no replays value for this game :(
This is a 16 Mb games if I'm not wrong. Unlike the Zelda - A link to the past, should have 8 Mb if I'm not wrong. The game play is definitely farly better than the Minish Cap. Perhaps the game designer concentrates much more on the graphic rather than the game plays itself :(

Did you try the 2 GBC zelda games by capcom? Orcale of seasons and ages?
The dungeons in the game are good, but the games not easy to find now. Both can interlink and change items.
