I have a few pcs of Ikea funitures at home too, coz my sis loves them. Their designs are good too. But hor i notice their stuff tend to be abit flimsy...
Btw, are there any display cabinets which is wide to cover the whole stretch of a wall for normal hdb room?
I am thinking to get one cabinet that wide. Ideal will be bottom half has wooden doors and shelvings then i can keep manga and cds inside. The top half is display with glass doors or slidings which i can display the toys...

Post #3 by Starry shows the cabinet.
Go to nearest ST newpaper in your home or to the webpage and see for youself, Leslie, dun let people spoon feed you picture!:duh:
...
this is going no where.
anyway, for those that owns the cabinet, are the glass strong? i don't want a case of cabinet shattering for no reason like those tempered glass bathrooms.

Anyway no idea how long the Detolf price is gonna stay. Hopefully its a permanent thing so can wait for annual sale for even better price! :D
Detolf's glass is quite sturdy. But Des and Godmaster have it in their rooms so maybe they can do a review? Try running into it at full speed at see if it cracks

I have a lot of Ikea furnis, a mixture of plastics and woods. The wood ones are good, but those treated ones are out of my budget and I can only get the untreated ones... Think my CD storage is being fed on by termites, haha. =))
The plastic ones are damn thin, my storage boxes are breaking (and a nice word, 'storage'). joints are not well done for the plastic furnis, but that's besides the point.
Have you considered custom-made display cabinets? My dad usually makes his own... but there's also some carpenters out there who would make custom furnis, just have to look hard.
K, realise I'm :topic: here, but... hehe. Just my 2cents on the Ikea furnis.

i think its gonna stay for one yr cos i just got the catalog , it never say its on sales or special promo , just stated "even lower price" unless they gonna have some kind of sales which is gonna be even cheaper ... i dun think they will increase the price =D>

if i remembered it correctly, its retail price was $129 prior and now $99.
savings of $30.
i heard tt its kinda sturdy and easy to assemble. you can even paint the wood top/ bottom to match your room/ furniture colour as well.
however, the thing is the panels are NOT adjustable - FIXED.
tt been said, $99 is worth the buy !

This cabinet is actualli quite good considering the price....Only problem i have with it, the assembling part, and the gaps in between the glass on the front side....But i m not complaining, good for those who wanted cheap, affordable nice looking cabinets...

Anyway, u know the situation now right, just cool it abit....L-)

Well, even it is an OLD design. Personally, i tink it is like a classic kinda of design. It may not be the most classy display cabinet (without background mirror..etc) However, it is suitable for the basic requirement which is to display ur stuff. For us, it is our beloved hobby aka TOYS...
U need to clean the interior once a while as dust DOES exist in this world. The glass panel which can be opened has a slight gap which will allow dust to enter... But good value for the amount of money spent.

i bought the cabinet at the sale abt 1-2 years ago, i dun like it that much becos dust easily accumulated inside the canbinet due to the openings. Need a lot of maintainence in my case. So rite now i use it as a cabinet to store my MISB and MOSC items.

I bought one, many months ago...
And for me, to make steps, I went down to Daiso to get things made of plastic (transparent), unless you want colored, like small display cases, little containers...
Then I use the cases/drawers/boxes as the steps...
I dunno, I think I got the idea from someone here...think it was KiraDude or Urahara_store...:red:

bro,
if u wan more affordable steps, visit Daiso (IMM Jurong or Plaza Sing). it cost $2.
its transparent acrylic box with cover. u can use e cover and invert e box for anothe step.
otherwise, you may customise acrylic steps for e detolf.

Just came back from Detolf-hunting - chiong down during lunchtime, and got the last 4 pieces at the Alexandra branch :p
Ok, scare u all only lah, actually last 4 means the last 4 for that batch ... they take about 20 - 30 mins to restock. As at 11.30 am today, there were 300 pieces in stock at Alexandra according to the customer service gal. 2 batches of about 40 pieces in all cleared out when I was there at about 12.30 plus (they seem to be moving pretty briskly), so you might want to give a call to check stock status before making a trip down.
Had to pay $40 for delivery though (the packaging is long and heavy, will be a hard fit in normal saloon). Threw in another few bucks worth of stuff and am now the possessor of an IKEA Friends Card 0__o
BTW: Limited to 5 pieces per person hor.

I thought it was a great idea to use the glass door seals on the Detolfs. After all, they are so easy to slip on.
Then I went to Home-Fix, and found out that they sell the seal for about $20 a piece :o
If I can find the seals for a much cheaper price, I'll go for it. But at $20 for one, cannot lah :(

First round discount was $69 for beech and white (black $99). Then in 2008 2nd round discount was $59 for all colours I think. So $85 not the deepest discount lah, but bear in mind the cheapo sales were all like quite long ago.

Normal price of this in Singapore is about $129 right?
So $85 is still a pretty decent discount if you can get it.

$129 was a long time ago - I think the RRP went down to $99 for a long while already.
Will prolly be going Ikea this weekend. Look-see look-see.
