Just curious, does anyone of you has the habit of leaving your PC on throughout the day...? That means even when you go to bed, you still leave it on...?
For me, I don't, mom would do a 'final round of inspection' before bedtime to ensure all necessary switches are off. Anyway, I take it as a waste of resources to leave it on. How about you guys...? :D
hahaha I hardly logon or us computer at home
so most of the time my notebook is in its bag

My bills is the electricity bills. So what I do now is remove cables to my spare harddisks and some fans to reduce the power required for my PC. :D

I leave mine on all the time but i switch off the monitor when not in use. It eats up as much electricity as using a television, console game, hi-fi, DVD player, etc
so i switch off everything except the PC
As i download ALOT

I will only switch on PC when I am going to use it. Never tried leaving it on for the entire night :)
Actually apart from switching off, even the plugs need to be taken out in case of power surge....but I don't think many people practice it.
For me I turn on my PC as and when it is needed so as not to waste percious power and money.:moneyface As for my tech "Geek" friends (two guys one older than the other), they dun turn off their computer most of the time as they can use the remote ascess procedure to use other PCs to acess into their own PCs back home. =D> :whistling :yeah:

Normally when I am awake, my laptop would be awake too. If I sleep, I shut it off and it sleeps with me too. :D

I got 4 fans in my computer, so doesn't overheat that easily but consumes more electricity. My friend who on his computer for entire month as remote computer simply remove the casing and use natural ventilation. Sometimes I do that but need to vaccum the insides after awhile.

On the contary, it is not good to leave your casing open.... dust caused static.. insect can go in and short circuit. Good casing is design in such a way that air flow only flow in 1 or 2 direction. With the case open, it disrupt the pattern.
More fan are good but only they are placed in the right placement. Den bigger the better, more air flow but less noise.

Yea, but so far so good, the insides still no prob after more than 2 years. Fans with ball bearings tend to be less noisy.
My 4 fans are strategically places such that is will take in air and cool all the important components of the computer, eg. harddisks, CPU and GPU. :D
I think the water cooling system is getting more popular now but I won't be trying out coz I don't overclock any parts of my computer. :)

I agree on this. Dust can caused static and short circuit the MB. So I guess it isn't advisable for PC to be left without any casing...:)
Just curious, anyone who does vacuum his destop PC once in a while....?
