As of late last Thursday night (GMT), principal photography has wrapped on V for Vendetta, the Warner Bros. film based on the graphic novel by Alan Moore and David Lloyd.
Directed by John McTeigue and adapted by the Wachowski Brothers, the film’s final shots to be completed were a re-creation of the hanging of Guy Fawkes, filmed north of London. Sources with the production noted that the set, as well as the hanging itself was re-created in meticulous detail.
Immediately prior to the filming of the hanging of Fawkes, the production took over central London, on Whitehall, between Trafalgar Square and Big Ben for three nights, between midnight and 5:00 am. The scenes filmed at the location, very close to the House of Parliament, involved tanks and military forces, and, according to those who were on the set, were decidedly eerie in a post 9/11 world. The movie’s military forces, were facing down a mob dressed in traditional Guy Fawkes garb and masks.
Reportedly, this was the first time in recent history a film crew was allowed to film so close to Parliament, and the largest location shot London has seen in years.
The film is slated to open on November 4th. For more information on the film, check v for vendetta (www.vforvendetta.com)
