They dun care abt mol 4000 wan...:bang:
They did! They just upgraded from 2000+ to 4000 without increasing your subscription fees ;)
Anyway, did a calculation. The difference between the new monthly subscription for 6500 & 4000 is abt $13 per month. 24 months contract, that sums to $312 ;)
I remember they offer subscripables X360 earlier this year on have to pay S$200 on top. :( Why no X360 pro version? 20GB HDD very nice to have.:D
Remeber X360 devalues faster than PS consoles. Microsoft dun care for you.

Coz they are trying to convince ppl to subscribe to mol6500 and mol Ultimate. Prob is, if they jack down dl speed, it doesnt make a difference which super plan u sign liaoz.:|
To them is u sign 6500 or Ultimate, they tie u down for more for 2yrs. mol4000, lesser money. Thats why they dun give a damn to mol4000 users when our 2yrs plan is up. They dun bother to offer any gimmicks wan.:sing:

My torrents are still doing all right... it's only slow for certain files where there's really very few seeders.
Back on topic, I used to be a Starhub user before I got totally frustrated with their service and technicians (they freaking put me on hold for 30 minutes while trying to get hold of their technicians, and then another 30 minutes for 'checking out what's wrong' -- and I was using my handphone to call them -_-) that I switched to Singnet. I'm currently very satisfied with the latter, and I don't have any plans to switch to Starhub anytime soon, no matter how attractive their package can be.
Xbox can go eat the dust.. I'll rather wait for PS3. :D

Oh >_< Gomen, I thought you were replying to my post. :red:
Anyway back on topic...
Recently Starhub said that Singnet's claim about 'dedicated bandwidth' is untrue as there's no such thing as 'dedicated bandwidth'. I'm not a techie, so I don't really know whether there is or not. It could jolly well be Singnet's way of promoting its ADSL, but as a user who has subscribed to both ISPs before, I find gaming with Singnet a hell lot smoother than Starhub.
So does anyone know whether if it's true that there's no such thing as 'dedicated bandwidth'?

I worked as telecom engineer.
In layman term, DSL technology is dedicated and Cable is shared. Every engineer sld know as its basic:D

In the gaming community, they always say Singnet pwned SCV provided its not down for some other reasons, so much so that some MMORPG players on SCV prefer to login after midnite for better latency.

It is the different coy that singnet and starhub get their submarine cable from. Singnet have a direct link to Australia while starhub have to go thru somewhere to get to australia.
Thats why Singnet user on Australia server have low ping. Its all up to where they get their oversea bandwidth from

Can take LoneWolf words for it, he has been in the line for so long liao.
I also joined in a discussion with Singtel people before, having dedicated is their advantage over other providers. Their price is also higher, but actually they got some restriction by the authority not to provide the lowest price, if not other players will lose the market to them.

Routers make a differences. The type the brand and the make. I using a Linksys 54G router with 3rd party firmware installed. And those who have applied Winxp SP2. They limit concurrent connections to only 10. You know how many BT will use.

Of course to a certain extent, BW is still shared but at least from user to headend is dedicated for DSL and it do make a diff esp when your block got alot of cable users then jialat liao:cry:

Yah, wireless router.
But i dun think should be due to the router. Coz i have been using it for 2yrs already. This problem seem to happen to me and ppl ard me sometime slightly before the world cup. Before that i can hit total speed on the average of 80+kbs, now has total 30kbs can pray to god liaoz...

Kippei
16-07-2006, 11:51 PM
I mean Winxp will limit it to 10 only.
So far after optimizing the router and the Tcp/ip stack. My average for BT for normal torrents(200 peers 50 seeds min) is around 200kb/s
Normally those common routers brought off the shelves and running on default firmware and setting will not be able to take the load of hundred of connections done by BT. Exception is the Dlink Gaming router

Asteroth is the same as me, facing the bt problems too...
I am sure its nothing to do with configurations on our com coz previously my dl speed can hit average 100-150kbs. I am sure Asteroth should be abt the same. That was before the world cup...

The only two bottleneck i can arrive is the Tcp/ip stack connection limit and router/firmware. My router firmware was custom optimised for BT.

My BT speed from 300++ dropped to average of 10-60, depending on no of torrents I opened. Sometimes I will still get 100+ or 200+ from one single connection alone.
Anyway, din do anything to the settings or router, it just drop, so that has probably got nothing to do with TCP/IP or router settings.

Normal only, $58 monthly :D Quite suprised that at the last minute as we were about to switch to starhub as all their previous offers failed, they offered the vouchers which we have no reason to turn down. Its like getting a year of free BB. :)
Its true that they will always woo new customers...in fact every telco like this, that's why people switch here and there to enjoy things. But I still think the in terms of promotions, Starhub gives out more.
same case here,i reject all their previous recontract offers...BUT this 700SGD voucher too temting...
bought 2 dvd players for home use with it.

Late last year. The reason I can think of for being so good is that their price are already scheduled for a revision down. A few months after the re-contract, the same plan now goes for $40+. So if they had not given good offers, subscribers will later kbkb :)

That's b'cos the pple in the shop are not major decision makers.
Just like that time when I visited one of the SH shops, all are youngsters, don't think they're the managers :(
They also asked me if my home had a white box installed or not. Not all flats need white box, especially if the whole building is already cabled. All you need is just a splitter to be attached at the TV outlet point so that it can support both the TV and the modem.

My contract with ST expiring soon, so maybe i will switch to SH. Lucky for me is that i know the sales manager, so i can ask cheaper or corporate rate from her. :D

U should think twice...
Is your contract finished already? That time my house BB waited till the last minute before recontract with Singnet and got $700 Best Denki voucher, which I sold for $600+. Just 1 month before that, they only offered a free modem.
The sound system looks good but see if can negotiate for more vouchers :nah:
