Tokyo has been replaced by Moscow as the world's most expensive city to live in. Singapore has halfed her ranking from last year's 34th to 17th this year.

work harder/ smarter and earn more $ - leverage on the savings you have on investments - buy property/ stocks/ other sidelines subsequently which can help you generate higher returns !
If you cant change the environment to suit you why not try changin yourself to suit the environment !

I was staying in a city called Guadalajara, their so call 2nd largest city. Other than the area where the rich people lives, the rest of the city looks old.
I also don't know why things are so expensive there especially when the economy is not good. Things cost relatively the same as in singapore..plus minus the daily necessities such as soap, food etc are not cheap. A typical cab ride will cost you $10 SGD.
People with jobs there earn maybe 10~20% less than what a singaporean will earn though jobs are difficult to find.

Anyway wat the use to tell pple living standard high or not. we live here we know how difficult it is. even go outside to have a meal S$2 not enough. worest take a bus easily more than S$1. one day ave working sg use how much? S$10 also not enough....

Media I do not belive sometime the way they write. Mostly I like getting my info from National geographic more loll or Reader die(something).
When I was in Aust, one meal is $7... Just a SHORT trip by train is $3.50. Water is much more EX then beer

Aussie road sweeper can earn min 2k+ (and thats the salary I heard yrs back, now can only be more), their union can f*** the employer upside down unlike NTUC.
The path they pursue seems drastically different from SG govt, they pay high even for menial job for the white people living there while we squueze our own people by saying FT is cheaper and better.

I think our situation is not that bad bah................ eating instant noodle, bread, watching TV still can survive.
In my opinion, getting higher education in order to get a higher pay job, does no longer guarantee better future. Because u could get fired, retrenched by the company.
Say, monthly salary $1000, but spend $999 monthly, comparing with monthly salary $600, but spend $300 only. Who is richer?
I have ever heard that, a credit card company everyday has 40 staffs, each staff needs to call min. 250 customers to pay the credit card payment. If the customer change phone number to get rid of them, they will find a lawyer to sue him/her. They've spent too much, now unable to pay. Who to blame leh?

Got themselve to blame loh. no $$ spend so much for what? I know pple who live in debt and i was suprise they wan to live like that till they die. not becos they dun have the money to clear but to them they feel it heart pain to clear the debt using exisitng money. this pple have saving just that they dun wan to clear. just bit by bit. anything they die loh. die liao no need to pay. tat wat they think.
Not me, i dun own a credit card. if i own i die also. whahaha poor pple like me suffer....
this is not a fresh topic liao..IMO..first day come sg work already know sg is a very xpensif country...compare to our neightbourhood country....but if u work for it..u'll get pay...if u can spend the money else where...better still...coz sg currency is bigger...heng ar....if sg dollar same like indo or thai....than wereally cry...

I agree with Kenoi that one should not even apply credit card when he/she is unable to afford the payment and bill. Have a debet card instead safer that way.:D :thumbsup: :moneyface

Now the "goverment" use the need to feed the old and sickly as the main reason (how to help old and sickly people especially if they are foregin ppls who have CPF account). CPF controls the nation's wealth in many ways and "borrows" the "goverment" to play in investing "the "people's money" in their "pet projects" (which you know what the projects are and how successful).:pig:

Sentosa is very ........... as a few year must zheng + destory a "fun place to make way for the new" (sound familiar) (I did not even step into the "fantasy world" a swimming playground before it was destoryed)=))
The durian have a leaky roof top which is covered by a cheapo "retro 70's plastic sheet on the roof" (cost of durian billions do not compare with the "peanut")

read TODAY newspaper and Power bill going up liao. 3% some may think it is not much but think again when u see ur bill from next month onward and see if it is really 3% increase or not.
I do not trust SP billing sys as most of the time the bill is high and i dun remember using so much power thru the month. btw they use ASSUMPTION method.

!!?? increase again??, tot they oredi increase after the Progress Package whereby on average the electric bill shoot up by 20%.

But hor dunno you all remember the last black out in SG 1 or 2 years back? It was cos by indo supply of natural gas broke down leh? so where is the fuel or pentrol come about leh?
some also say bill went up few month ago as their bill shoot quiet high with the same amount of usage...

When fuel price increase everything increase but when fuel price drop why don't I see the price of everything else drop too? The only thing that drops is our pay. Worse is those idiots who they always show on TV saying that the % increase is only peanuts as compared to other countries and it doesn't affect them. Can't they use their brains to think for once instead of their a$$. Why don't they compare our salaries with those countries?

Do u know the Power of GST? that alone already let u pay even u dunno know. Look into your bill when you buy something next time and do a caculation for it i a year how much you actually pay anually regardless of income tax and all that stuff.
Bus fare increase, GST amount increase
product material increase like toy, GST amount also increase
Power bill increase, GST amount also increase
Shipping cost of toy increase, GST amount also increase

Back to track. Singapore "goverment" with control of the "mantae" do things as they please thinking Singaporeans will support their views and the "party" forever. The "goverment" contorl CPF (20% of your pay), taxes, transport, GST, the way of life in Singapore so much. They are the part of the reason why Singapore is where it is today. So expensive to live in.
SO EXPENSIVE TO LIVE IN SINGAPORE, I GO TO LIVE IN SWITZLAND!=)) (i need to check "the party's member"s swiss bank accounts also so they can be "sue" when time is ripe.):nah:
