How do you think of 神兵前传2? I stop in the previous 外传 and 前传1 bcos of the artwork, abit "off proportion" after a few issues. This time round seems very well done leh, even the story in India is good try..maybe just get issue 1 to collecting 1st :|

I love Shen Bing, but I stopped collecting after series 2. And now I concentrate on collecting Japanese manga only. I got too many manga series to collect... The only Hong Kong manga I collect now is Feng Yun compilation series.

Part 1 is still the best. Part 2 is quite crap. Part 3 becoming worse... too much funny creatures coming out esp like dragons etc...

I finds that qian chuang is the best so far. Looking forwards to part 2..

This week issue of Shen Bing 3 has a very exciting plot & twist, and that's without featuring Hao Jie (the main character) *wink*

Lu Bao defeated n' humilated "Happy Living Fairy" in front of all their henchmen and took over control.

Bao Zhong Bang is asked to terminate the life of his tormented mentor and he couldn't bring himself to do that.
I really like the character development of Bao Zhong Bang. More so than Hao Jie.
Being an orphan brought up in a bad environment yet still maintaining his integrity and sense of righteousness, Bao Zhong Bang is like the duke of deer - naughty, cunning but with a heart of gold.

Havent read yet but I also prefer him to Hao Jie. Although using Hao Jie as the main character is thought of as a new move by Tony Wong, but I guess most ppl still prefer stories from 小人物 to 大人物.

神兵 3.5 coming up 2weeks later. Basically I don't see the reason for changing of title since its just a continuation of story. the special character to be introduced I guess is 邪帝, if he really did not die. Or it may be that 笑蒼生 which we have heard but not seen.

But give chance, at least the story is slightly better recently and pace it faster. The so call romance plot may not be able to pick up so the 3.5 may be a change of direction, could be a "work together" with the movie directors and concentrating more on martial arts.

Shen Bing I stopped after part 1, only got the first few issues from part 2. The reason I stop is becausing it's becoming too fantasy like with all those strange creatures and flying ships etc, I like it more to be Wu Xia based.

Yeah, I agrees with u all, those fantasy cum 武俠's titles really cannot make it. Must have a strong story plots that suits those fantasy lines...

So far 大唐雙龍傳 and all those 金庸's titles are towards the 武俠 types. Hardly seen any 武俠 titles that JD can comes out with :shooting:

Since I already stopped reading after part 1, gonna ask a stupid question: are the stars and characters still the same as part 1?

Part 1 and 2 are continuous and characters are same, just that there is break at the end of part 1, and part 2 is years later.

Part 3 and 3.5 are also continuous. Now its having 2 issues for prelude. The actual 3.5 will be released next week.

One strong decision that Tony Wong made this time in the prelude, the main actress (英雄公主 ) is dead and I think there should be no chance of revival. But of couse, the effect won't be so bad as when 小龍 died in 龍虎門. :shooting:

And one thing i hate bout them, is their irregular issues for the cover, see how colourful it is? I prefer comics to be uniformed.... ;)

九千岁 recently revealed his looks behind that 邪神 look-alike mask. His looks is just lousy, don't have that kind of 霸者 feel that he has been protraying all along. It just look like a 3rd-grade character and really don't need that mask. :(

开心 is revealed as the son of current emperor 杨坚. This part of boring story have ended. Next should be improved, with the palace story coming up.

开心 is confirmed to be 楊廣, one of the most 殘暴 emperor in Chinese History. Now he is still a very happy character, good man type, totally different from his future. Maybe it is supposed to go this way, and after he get 虎魄, it will start his road to the throne and change his character completely.

Oh, by combining 神兵 with 天子, seems like this is going to be a long way to go. :phew:

read this week's issue? 3 new emperor potentials appeared after fate is changed

One of them is Kai Xin (Yang Guang), whose personality apparently is going to turn violent

the other is Hao Jie, our hero character. and we know he's going to give up the choice of becoming emperor due to his commitment as successor to Sky Crystal sword.
the possible twist to this, is that while his father is not fated to be king, despite his efforts to revolt, his father will try to make his son the emperor, which Hao Jie will subsequently refuse

And the third one, unexpectedly, is that Wu Shen Tong also becomes emperor potential!!!
yeah, i like this twist a lot coz i like his character very much. A victim of circumstances who is forced to become an evil and ruthless villian to revenge his foster-mom.
And he turned good after few years of seclusion.

Actually I feel Shen Bing slightly improved recently, although not as good as before. It turned better after that draggy part where Ying Xiong "want die don't die" and 2nd line characters get chopped off. :)

I hope the concentration can be on Kai Xing rather than Hao Jie. Please don't be too draggy :pray2:

神兵 3.5 is into its 1st anniversary, although it has lost its glory :pray2:

The last issue where 包撞's parents died, I feel its a good plot wasted. Wlthough they are not prominent characters, that plot has been hastened and can't achieve the 共鳴. End up its a bit 肉麻 :laugh:

Actually, the whole shen bing 3 the story too rushed liao. Not much time spent on character development. Unlike shen bing 1 & 2, there are no memorable characters at all in shen bing 3 & 3.5. In addition, the way the character changes from gd guys to bad & vice versa all too sudden. The weapons (design & power) oso nothing special.

When the story just started, they had said that they will concentrate more on character development and less on fighting. Initially was still alright, than keep on rushing when 3.5 started.

Recent 20 - 30 issues, characters die one after another, and they go in doubles, can see that JD is putting in "efforts" to wipe off all unnecessary characters so that the story will become simpler and easier to manage.

Don't know if anyone still following this title. Because I am reading 云梦城之谜 by 黄易, I feel that the recent 神兵 plot is too similar to 云梦城之谜. There are things like 消失的古城， 古老传说， 前世今生, 一大批人聚集古城....and although 云梦城之谜 is released later than this part of 神兵, I still think that its not a coincidence. :laugh:

The 神前5 is more on Zeus, Apollo, Hades, Poseidon, Athena and all kinds of western gods etc... Just wonder how can this be linked together with 神兵. So far the story plot is not bad, but for the artwise, average only... Recommend for those 神兵 collectors only.

Actually I have the whole set ..
of which I think 神兵 series 2 is the best ...fast paced ..and had the 邪帝 character ..
for 神兵 3.5 the story arc now moving towards the tz side ...with 开心 being made a puppet emperor by 九千岁.

And all the evil deeds , like killing his father, his brother , is actually done by 九千岁, but the blame was put on 开心's shoulders.

Not sure if 开心 will continue to be good (in actual history ..he is one of the most vicious tyrant) ... just need to see how the story goes.

One thing to say : the standard of the artwork for the 神兵 series has always been topnotched ..the same cannot always be said about the other JD series though

I am still collecting now, but 90% wil drop it once Shenbing 3.5 ends. The artwork has never dropped, but story is going nowhere and not exciting at all.

There is a possibility though, that if Shenbing 4's era is current or futuristic, than I might consider :D

Reminds me, ..there used to be a short run a few years back set in the shen bing futuristic environment..main character called 天龍子 (or something ..i think in 神兵前传3 ..there was a short scene whereby 问天 looked into the future and saw this 天龍子 character who is supposed to be his descendent ) .. find that very interesting also ... i think only 7 or so episodes ..ended abruptly ..when it started to get exciting ... i.e. 虎魄 ..天晶 about to appear ...seems like done by the artist who did the Xia1 Ke4 Xin2 series ...

really hope they continue this futuristic one ...perhaps it was stopped due to sales reason ... d Xiao Ao Xin He ..which was supposedly JD's main push for 2005 (which got delayed to 2006) ..and ended after only s short run ... is likely stopped due to the consumers not really taking up to futuristic settings also ... so ..not sure if JD will revive the 神兵 futuristic series ... but if it does ... I will b first to support

The futuristic version is by Lin Ye Qing, and is given free alongside the main comics. Its meant only to test market, but I think he received quite positive comments on that. Only 4 copies were released. :)

The futuristic Sheng Bing is drawn by Lin Ye Qing :) Anyway Tony Wong just copy the idea from the futuristic of Feng Yun by Ma Sir. The drawing is nicely drawn by LYQ. Too bad it ends with few vol only with a proper ending :(

The futuristic 风云, if it is referring to 神武记, it started out well ..but again quality drop so drastically, no focus ..shoddy story line, dialogues full of errors ...poor drawings, it was a total farce and a pain to continue ..luckily it finally ended its run recently

Copying ideas is quite common lah, as long as it does not infringe any copyrights, and if it improves on the original, why not?

Think Ma sir should seriously look at copying some of the ideas from TZ6, 神兵 and 边荒, the way his 风云 plot is developing, he (and his team) seriously do need a jolt of inspiration

I think it will be a rush ending again. The speed at which characters die seems to show that. But its good news for me, because I don't want it to drag further :D

Latest issue sees the reappearance of the 神兵- 噬魂. Dun think its going to be a match for 天晶. In the original series only 虎魄 is on par with 天晶.

Perhaps, slowly one by one, the rest of the other 7 more shen bing will appear ... high chance the next one will be 神农尺(to use for battling the epidermic and restoring 英雄 to life) ....

Latest issue confirmed that 神兵4 wil be a brand new story, and its supposed to be special..anyway keeping fingers crossed since I have decided to drop it completely, so not much high hopes :)

Latest issue confirmed that 神兵4 wil be a brand new story, and its supposed to be special..anyway keeping fingers crossed since I have decided to drop it completely, so not much high hopes :)

It will be released in the first half of the year.
Tony also mentioned 神兵3 was going ot be special ..but somehow ... it lost its impetus along the way ... if the new series is going to be in the compact size format like 神兵F and 天子6 ... then, with more pages per episode, it may offer faster pacing and better storyline like the aforementioned two

I have just started collecting the 潮珍版 from 邱福龍. its the 小魔神 series.
Now at book 3. Not too bad. Felt that 邱福龍's artwork is quite impressive ....
According to Tony, he is going to release a new series this year. So thats the one you talking about? Still remembered he once wrote 龙神. My only complain was that it ended abruptly, leaving behind a big loose end . I collected all of it. Perhaps a chance he may revive that :)

OT: There was a continued version of 龍神 just a few years back. 50+ issues and it was complete. Maybe when they release it again, you can collect it. :)

Yep ..I got that as well. Actually that 2nd series also did not complete the full story although it was much better managed than the first.
..It ended with 龍神 going to battle the invasion, with no followup on the end result. Also a side story arc saw 虎帝 getting his powers from his dad, and if I remember, he was supposed to confront 龍神.

I guess 邱福壟 had his reasons ...perhaps it was to help Tony start the 大圣王 series.

Still , I m keeping my fingers crossed dat some day ..some time ..he will find the spare capacity (with Tony's blessings of coz) to complete the series

The 天皇 thread seems stretching it a bit ..both 豪杰 and 九千岁 are demi-gods and they took years to arrive at what they are now. 天皇 only acquired the 噬魂, and he is almost as powerful.. guess JD may be trying to spice up the ending by introducing more baddies ... but some how I feel that a 神兵 series without the 天晶传人 battling 天魔 just doesn't seem right to me

Definately stretching...and probably bidding their time to get 神兵4 out. The part on 天皇 is useless to me. Since its supposed to be a combination of Tian Zi, they should have focus on Kai Xin and Hao Jie and its enough to last through the ending.

The latest issue revealed that a 神兵 movie is being planned. The same happened abt 8 years ago but the plans were later shelved. Then 谢霆锋 was slated to play 问天. No news though on who will play the lead character this time though.
Would be nice if they finally managed to complete the movie this time round.

Just look at Feng Yu, Zhong Hua Ying Xiong, Long Hu Meng movies. Quite disappointment to me. Better dun comes out with the movie ver.[-X

It may attract new readers ...who had never heard of the series before ...
Though most chinese comic adaptation usually turn out crappy ....
but still it would be interesting if they were able to reenact some of the classic scenes like the 颠蜂绝战 or 刺邪 or 虎魄重光.

Actually for Shenbing series, I still feel that the initial part of series 1 is the best. At thet time, the idea was really good! I guess they would do that anyway :laugh:

I bet those who post in this thread frequently will definitely get 神兵4. Remember how crap tian zi 5 was and when tian zi 6 came out there is nothing but praise for the book in it own thread.
Same theory goes to 神兵 lah. No matter how crap 神兵 3.5 is now, supporter of this series in the end will have the mentallity 神兵4 will be good why not give it a try.
