In general, some people do not collect toys but some folks like us do.
It would seem that it is just your regular passion or hobby, and as would all hobbies go, that it would only be appreciated by the like-minded. How do you feel about your hobby in toy collecting - Is it generally recognised to be more "kiddy" or that it is something the "sensible" adult would stay far away from etc.
Personally, I think because the choice in what you collect can be wide-ranging and very varied (such as badges, figures, antiques, vintage items, tin toys, remote control stuff, comics, trading cards, memorabilia etc) there is no good reason to say it is any less adult a hobby than some of the pastimes others do, like kart racing, mountain climbing or watching movies and listening to music etc.
The essence of this hobby is basically to collect and could it have stemmed from an innate characteristic found in some human beings? I also wonder if this hobby getting the attention and respect it deserves from the society at large?

My Hobby to me is like i dun care of its value. I collect it becos its a satisfaction that cannot be describe easily by words. For example, i collected HK comics for 20++ years and since then, i had been going down hill and prices depreciated 10x......... However, even if ppl offer me 10x the price to acquire my collection, i wldn't let go as well. So in conclusion, i treat my hobby very personal and at the same time share with kakis :D

The way Lonewolf collects is really like addicted, but that makes it interesting. :supz:
I don't collect toys but concentrate on comics. The way I display them, my mother always ask me when I want to sell them off. Of course its [-X In fact since sec sch, I have been looking forward to collecting comics every week that its my "mind food", at least for me, it breaks away from the sometimes boring studies/work........
I know some people will say that comics and toys are only for kids, but everybody have their own interests to fill their life, should understand :)
not only some ppl. "most" ppl that dont appreciate the art of comic and toys like us threat our hobby as "very kiddy"...to them it only wasting money and childish..

If you notice, ppl who are into these hobbies usually are not afraid to tell, same lah, I don't explain too much to others also, only a selected few understand why I can continue for so long, luckily my gf one of those supportive

Like Eng Chiong, comic is like a mind food to me, got me the space to imaging what if....I'm this & what if I'm that...
So i alway like to imaging that when i'm in a car park but no parking, I'll wish that Doraemon is around so he can mkae my car into a toy so I can juz put it in my pocket & go shopping :D
Toy is a must for me.
Like I always say, men must have toys, be it the toys we collect, cars, high tech gagget, work, woman [-X ...hahaha
We are always playing with toys but the definition of toy is different for different people 8-)
so I'll always tell those who laugh at me collecting toys that they are just playing with different kind of toy

For me, collecting comics is meant for de-stressing myself from my daily work and appreciate the author's art and story plot ;)

Toys collecting has always been such a passion for me, and i have never regret till now on starting it. Through toy collecting, i have forge many valueable friendships and gained much from them. Recently, there's has been better coverage on toys collecting on a whole probably from the Gacha fair. Things will get better, and people will change their opnions in toy collecting.
No doubt it is a time counsuming and expensive hobby to keep, but only the serious and passionate toy collector will persist on this route, cause it's the undescribable satisfaction and joy you get from it.

hmm for me, i cant really classify the 'feelings' or 'reasons' why i love my stuffs. All i know is that i can spend the whole day doing nothing but wiping my toys, transforming my Tfs into alt mode than back to Mech mode and sometime for combiners, try all sort of combi. I also enjoy posing them in diff ways and take pics of them. Hmm think i am weird hehe.
No comic & Toys = Starvation to me

Macross stuffs is an expensive hobby esp for the Yamato 1/48 series :| I long ago gives up when I collects 1 fig. Space too constraining for 1 box. Imagine for those hardcore fans, They bought 3 sets each for the same figs.. -_-"
I also collect the Macross series. Even the bandai ones which are cheaper make a big hole in my pocket. Macross also have a few series that comes with the engine boosters or something like that. They keep coming out many variations amd theres even a weapon booster pack that I saw in a CSC shop. Can't keep up with all of it, only can buy those that I really like.

Somebody is a fanatic in your house :shooting:
Has anyone saw a candytoy series of Macross? It supposedly is able to transform despite the small size.
