nice graphics but not sure how the gameplay and story plots are... Looking forward for this title anyway

Just miss the old FF6 and FF7. The game plots are the best
FF8 ~ A great romance love story about Squall and Rinoa
FF9 ~ weak in side quests esp when searching for those hidden treasure
FFX ~ another romance storyplot but not as good as the previous series
FFX-2 ~ probably the weakest title which only concentrate on the 3 main female characters
FFXI ~ online game which doesn't interests me at all [-X
FFXII ~ unknown yet 8-)

Agree with most. But I disagree with FF8 having a good romance story. I found many parts of the story rather forced into the game, like Squall's change of character and the abrupt introduction of a final enemy boss. FFX's love story was way better with the wholesome recurring themes of cycles and circles and spheres, showing very involved planning of the game plot.

My opinions would go something like this:
FFIV: simple classic RPG which kept the gamer going for its story
FFV: character building that gets the gamer so involved
FFVI: best gameplay with memorable characters and epic story line
FFVII: classic epic for its characters, story and the jump from 2D grids to 3D free roaming
FFVIII: yet another technological leap in graphics, introduction of usage of orchestral bgm
FFIX: attempt to return to roots, but ended up being too tough for the casual gamer. Maturity of Uematsu's orchestral music composing.
FFX: tho lacking in gameplay, the story and plot was very well planned with memorable recurring themes that drew the gamer involved
FFX-2: ho ho, I dunno wat to say about this one :P
FFXI: Online, sigh. no $$.
FFXII: Let's hope for the best yea? I hope we'll see some emphasis on game play this time, a rarity in today's games.

wow, u described very well

Me just can't types out those bombastic words as I'm quite weak in English

Most of my frens doesn't likes FF8, but I'm not 1 of them. I feels that this is a great games with nice storyline. Perhaps this is the 1st rpg game that the graphics are so great(during that time) left me a very good impressions and good artngs for this game.

So we shall patiently awaits for the upcoming FF~XII to release

Not sure that how u guys think about this... I feels that FF series is getting downhill now. In terms of graphics, they r getting better and better. But the storyline wasn't as good as before like FF6 & 7. Am I the only 1 having these kinds of feelings here?? :scared:

Yea I feel it too. But sometimes I think it may be juz dat I'm not growing with the era of games...my own commitment towards gaming has also dwindled over time, especially ever since I started collecting Transformers. Today's games seem to emphasis so much on graphics and "realism" rather than the actual gameplay.

Man, I feel old. Haha.

Just saw a intro of the game on TV. The battle has been changed from turned based to semi-realtime and you don't jump into a battle mode, you battle right from the map like FF online. Why do I say it's semi-realtime? 'Cause you can pause the game and set commands and press the resume button.

I am hoping FF can become like Kingdom Hearts like that, so that will be more involved in the game.

Eng version is released. bought it and playing now.
story is shorter then i expected, just 15hours through the game and im 1/4 done on the story progress, judging from the guide book.

- battle system is a good change, no more random battles that throw party into instance battles.

-gambit system is good addition too, so player dont need to micromanage every battle. good set of gambits lets player breeze through most encounters

-new limit break system, quickenings, the only factor determine usage is mana. If there is enough mana, you can cast the 'limit break' (still prefer calling that lol) which sort of abusable. i.e getting full mana before the first esper boss fight(belias) lets player cast total of 6 'limit break', which is usually a flawless victory, if 6x not enough throw ethers can cast somemore!

review to be continued... :supz:

-summon/esper
It feels more like summon now. Espers will follow and aid the summoner for some time. How their actions on conditions such as <10sec summon time remaining will trigger their powerful special attack.

-story
Usual epic war era storyline again with party members from various backgrounds

-graphics,sounds,ambience etc
little improvements imo but the standard maintains. some very familiar tunes from ff8 present.

bottomline- recommended to try for a new rpg experience.

Is the gameplay like Kingdom Hearts? The summon is kinda similar to Kingdom Hearts, which is what I like. :)

Went down to get this game, but sold out -_-", read some review which stated that this FFXII serie has to acquired license points after fights to unlock slots for equipting armours/weapons and stuff. Added on difficulty.

FF XII is kind of hard though, especially in later part of the game, it could be because, I didn't level up enough, or I didn't buy the right license for my team, this game's becoming a chore to play.. :\ My loss, really.

It may feel that way, but the typical action time bar is still there so its not yet an action rpg like KH.

FF XII needs more planning then any other rpg imo. A player can have completely different set of equipments, magicks, etc from another who is at the same stage of playing. This is what i like about this game.

Here is my character layout as reference, idea borrowed from world of warcraft :yeah:

Basch (tank) Hes the one that takes major amount of damage inflicted to my party. So i spent most of my cash on him to keep his defense at highest possible.
License.priority on equipments,white magicks,green magicks
Weapon. 1hand sword and a shield

Vaan (backup) 2nd frontline.Mainly a damage dealer.Provides backup if Basch falls
License. Weapons, all schools of magicks, few points on armor
Weapon. spear/ 2hand katana

Ashe(aka. paladin) spents most mana on healing and buffs.
Liscense.weapons, light armor. all schools of magicks, technicks
weapon. 1hand sword and shield

Barthier(reserve dps/healer) use him on fights where enemy deals deadly damage/status effects. So hes the one staying out of enemy's attack range
Liscense. range weapons, all schools of magicks, technicks
weapon. gun

I never lvl up the other 2 character as it would take much more time then necessary. Only spent their stored LPs on quickenings and recovering skills for worse case senario.

Currently doing all the side quests and getting final 2 summons/esper before taking down last boss.

I'm leveling up nowwith Vaan alone in the stargaze field in Giza plains, beating the two 20+level werewolves. Actually follow a guide to powderlevel at the initial stage, it took me like ten hours to get to level 22 and aquired 2 quickenings.

There's a uniqueness in this game, deciding which area you wan to developed your characters, you can even decide for them what kind of armours and weapons they hold. To make one character a full allrounder would not be efficient in this game. So ya one could say everyone could have their own unique Vann, penelo...etc.

There are some good gameplay videos on ff12 at youtube, like how to get the zodiac spear as soon as possible, or a quick way to lvl max fast http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7K_6pZy38Ao

WooT! Finally Completed FFXII!!!

Anyway i got some complaints. I admit overall its a good game but missing some key Final Fantasy trademarks.

1. Hardly any "funny" moments.. FF7 - FF10 had whimiscal moments like funny senarios of the side characters..

2. You can't really relate to any of the characters

3. Hardly any backstory to most of the characters

4. Theme song is sung only during the ending! @_@

5. Hardly any character interaction. i mean how often you see Penelo,Basch, etc talk?

6. Plays too much like FF XI (Which i gave up coz it was quite lame)

7. Airship (Cannot self pilot >_< )

But i will give points to:

1. Moogles... goddammit they get cuter with every game....

2. Lord Of The Ring meets Star Wars (Basch = Aragaon, Balthier & Fran = Han Solo & Chewbacca etc) Even Rescue Ashe from Leviathan = Rescue Leia from Death Star. LOL?

3. Gambit system... Just run up to enemy and it does the rest... no more button mashing!!!

4. Excellent voice acting! Reddas = Phil LeMarr of Futurama & Justice League
Migelo = John Dimaggio of Futurama "BENDER"!

5. Airship designs which look awesome

6. Viera (which i think looks more hot than elves considering they're all female!)

7. FMV & In Game Cutscenes are well played out.

This game is addictive for me..i'm only halfway done, the best part about this FF serie is able to determine the action and movement of the characters during battle. Much more interative and it's not so mundane anymore. Running through to get the Zodiac spear was exciting, just imagine if it was the old battle system, just take a chunk of the excitment away.

Got to be one of the best FF series for me so far.
