They should free up lungberg for his mazey runs since he is not doing well at right midfield and keep Hleb in the squad. Reyes and Pires will have to contend to be at the bench for now... hehe :D

Shock bid for Beckham?
Arsène Wenger could be on the brink of making a shock bid for Real Madrid's David Beckham, it has emerged. Beckham, the England captain, is known to be frustrated that his time in Spain has been trophyless so far.
Wenger had said before the Madrid tie that he would not discuss players from the opposition before playing them - however he is now more open in his admiration for the England winger.
"Of course I would take him," Wenger said. "I don't know what his intentions are. Ask me if I rate him and I say yes. Ask if he can play at Arsenal and I say yes, he has the qualities to do it."
But the Arsenal boss denied having so far made a bid: "Have I been in for him? No. I don't think about it now, I will address it at the end of the season."
"I can give you 20 names of players who could become involved in Arsenal Football Club - exceptional players who would add something, and if we need it we'll do it. He could be one of them."
It is known that Beckham's wife is keen on moving back to England, and that he owns a property only ten miles from Arsenal's training ground. However, the sticking point could be negotiations with Madrid, who will not be willing to let their player go for a cheap price. Beckham would probably also have to take a wage reduction.
It is an interesting scenario to consider, for sure!

Overall, Arsenal created enough chances to win.
Fabregas did a super pass to feed Henry with an equally sublime finishing. Gerrard committed suicide with the back pass.. and I thought Luis Garcia's challenge on Henry was really uncalled for. Bergkamp is only half the master class player he used to be.

Spanish wonderkid deal imminent
Arsenal are thought to be close to agreeing a deal for highly-rated Spanish teenager Fran Merida.
The talented midfielder came through the same Barcelona academy system as Cesc Fabregas, and Merida has followed the lead of Fabregas by quitting the Catalan giants before they could tie him to a professional contract.
Arsenal cannot sign the player until he turns 16, which he will do this month, and it is widely expected that Merida will join the growing list of glittering young talent congregating at Highbury.
Another one from barcelona youth academy is coming to arsenal. ;)

Fran Merida - Arsenal's NEW PRODIGY
Arsene Wenger has added another of Europe's most promising teenage talents to his ranks with the capture of Spanish starlet Fran Merida.
In a similar vein to Francesc Fabregas the midfielder learnt his trade at Barcelona, but left the Catalan side in September 2005 and has not appeared for Los Cules since.
Reports in Spain claim that the 15-year-old has been hidden away by his agent, Joseba Diaz, in order to allow him a free passage to England when he turns 16 this month
According to El Pais the youngster has been playing in Vitoria, as appearing for Barcelona's youth ranks would have prevented him departing Camp Nou of his own will and the Spanish paper quotes Diaz as stating: "It's true, he is hidden."
Merida joins both Fabregas and Gerard Pique in quitting Barca in his formative years, and reports in the English press claim he is closing in on a move to Highbury after appearing in their behind-closed-doors friendly against Brighton on Tuesday.
Wenger has constantly turned his attentions to securing the continent's best talent, completing at times controversial deals for the likes of Fabregas, Mathieu Flamini and Nicolas Anelka.
His most recent youth capture Theo Walcott, who arrived at Highbury in a blaze of publicity from Southampton, is signing his professional contract on Thursday after turning 17.
"Theo will sign his first professional contract at the training ground," agent Colin Gordon told The Daily Star.
"I expect it will be low-key as we had all the fanfare in January when he joined the club."
Signed! :)

Espanyol kid set to join Chelsea in summer
MADRID, March 21 (Reuters) - Espanyol youth team midfielder Sergio Tejera says he will be leaving the Barcelona-based club to begin a career at Chelsea next season.
'I'm delighted because it is very difficult for a foreign club to become interested in players that are so young,' Tejera was quoted as saying by Spanish sports daily Marca on Tuesday.
'It's a great opportunity for me to develop as a player.'
Marca reported that Chelsea were prepared to offer up to 250,000 euros for the left-sided midfielder who is viewed as one of the Catalan club's most promising players.
Tejera said he hoped to emulate former Barcelona youth player Cesc Fabregas who switched to Arsenal three years ago when he was 15 and has now become a key part of the London club's midfield.
'He's an example to follow and it would be great if I could achieve what he has achieved,' he said.
Yet another one, despite Barca's successful youth academy, they can't seems to keep the talent they have on hand.

The tempo of the game in the first half was unbelievable and a joy to behold two great teams play. Henry (scored second goal) missed a few shots and Cesc Fabregas (scored first goal) definitely outshone his predecessor Patrick Vieira. Mistakes by Arsenal were not pounced on by Juventus. Van Persie came on but showed his lack of bite and throughout the game, the Arsenal back line was the most impressive of them all :D
MOM: Cesc Fabregas
To get two players sent-off and Vieria banned is a bad twist of fortune but nothing a big club like Juventus cannot handle. Game on. Arsenal take a 2-0 advantage to Stadio delle Alpi in a fortnight!

not bad ah arsenal !!! :supz: :supz: :drum: any player got :yellow:? ?:D
No leh Bryant, all the yellows were for the juve players.
Arsenal were great! It was an emotional night between Viera and Arsenal players / supporters alike. Kinda feel sad that he had to leave highbury on a downote but definitely no regrets on this performance. It was a great football night again full of entertainment and passion. This is Arsenal, My Arsenal :)

Fabregas - If you think we are through then you are wrong
It seems that one of the people least excited by Cesc Fabregas’ performance on Tuesday was the player himself.
Arsenal’s Spanish midfielder scored one goal and made another as Arsène Wenger’s team swept aside Juventus in the Champions League Quarter-Final first leg on a wonderful evening at Highbury.
Much was made of Fabregas’ tussle with his former team-mate, Patrick Vieira, in midfield. The teenager was a clear winner on the night and the Frenchman’s booking means they will not lock horns in the second leg next week. The 18-year-old remained modest when asked about his achievements after the game.
“I always try to do my best,” said Fabregas. “Not just because I was playing against Patrick.
“You can always improve playing against these kinds of players. Not only Patrick but there was Emerson too. He is going to play at the World Cup for Brazil.
“For me, Patrick had a fantastic game and so did Juventus. The only difference is that we scored two goals and did not concede.”
That is perhaps understating the case. However Fabregas was nearer the mark when he turned to the second leg. He knows the job is only half-done.
“This was a terrific night,” said Fabregas. “If you are an Arsenal fan and you watch this kind of game you have to enjoy it. I did personally.
“But we have to respect the game and respect Juventus for who they are. If you go there and think you are in the Semi-Finals then you are wrong.
“Pavel Nedved is going to come back and I don’t know who else. These teams have big players on the bench and in the squad. They will be ready to play the game again.
“That is why we have to be focused for 90 minutes but we have another game on Saturday [against Aston Villa] and we have to be focused for that one too.
“We scored twice this evening and it was very important not to concede a goal against a team like Juventus. Now we will see what happens in Turin.”
The match ain't over til the clock ticks down to zero at Turin. I say let's score an away goal and seal the match. Go Gunners!
