TS Group, one of Singapore's largest home video retailers, has been forced to pay damages to movie distributors and studios for selling pirated DVDs, complete with Board of Film Censors stickers.

Between 2001 and 2004, the company sold pirated copies of dozens of popular movie titles at prices ranging from $14.90 to $16.90, more than double the $6 price tag usually attached to pirated DVD movies.

TS even submitted the knock-offs to the Board of Film Censors in order to obtain stickers confirming that the discs had been passed by the board, so as to make them look more legitimate to customers, said Alliance Entertainment chief executive officer Tan Poh Lam.........

..........

Alliance discovered the pirated discs being sold at all the company's 30 outlets back in 2002 and warned it to stop.

Its requests were ignored.

.........

TS Group has always maintained that it was unaware that the discs it sold were pirated........It declined to say whether it would provide refunds or any other form of compensation to customers who bought pirated discs in good faith.

Last time I saw some of those discs and my friends and I were saying that now even the approval stickers got pirated ones.

Good thing I never buy anything from them.

Thats why i have always supported Poh Kim.
The boss of Poh Kim was interviewed by the Zao Bao before and came clean that he will only insist on importing movies/doramas he can get copyrights.=D>

I never buy my Japanese dorama sets from TS though they are faster and more varieties. I rather go without them than support these pirated ppl who try to be clean.[-X

hmm...
So far i have no problems with Poh Kim vcds/dvds. If u all notice, some vcds Poh Kim import to sell are solely available to them only. Rare finds like hk movies but in cantonsese dialogues, hk dramas, Japanese doramas etc etc.

Try the Liang Court branch. There is this guy there whom is very friendly wan.

Poh Kim give a better image, boxes look good also, but definately bound to have some "not so good" quality. Especially when VCD / CDs are imported from low-cost source.

Actually for movies there are many places to get from. I myself don't like TS too. I normally pop by Music Junction or Laser Flair. Those places are where I do my movies hunting needs. :D
