There was some report on the news yesterday on the E3. The Zelda for Wii definately looks good. Saw Link fishing and hitting monsters with the interactive control.
But is it a totally new version of Zelda or they are using Twilight Princess and making a Wii version out of it? The delay have been too long that some people are speculating that they are giving up on the Gamecube version
i'm looking forward to the new sonic game on the Wii. heard it works really well with the new motion sensor controller

Don't fancy EA games though..
EA announces titles for Wii
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Electronic Arts on Thursday said it is developing six games for Nintendo's upcoming Wii video game console, whose selling point is a motion-detecting controller that allows players to simulate swinging a bat, golf club or sword.
EA , the world's largest video game publisher, said its Wii development team is working on new versions of its best-selling football franchise "Madden NFL" and racing game "Need for Speed."
Other new game titles will include iterations of "Harry Potter," "Tiger Woods PGA Tour," "SSX" and "The Godfather."
EA said each of the new titles will take advantage of the technology in the Wii controller that has captured the imagination of both gaming enthusiasts and game makers.
The Silicon Valley-based company, which did not give release dates for the new titles, said additional Wii games are under development and will be announced in the coming months.
"Everyone in the studio is energized by the creative opportunity afforded by both the (Wii) hardware and controller ... creatively, the game play possibilities are staggering and endless," EA General Manager John Schappert said in a statement.
American Technology Research analyst Paul-Jon McNealy said the announcement should be well received by investors in EA -- whose shares have lost 26 percent of their value over the last 12 months as the video game industry moves to new console technology.
"We believe this will be considered good news after (EA) had not been aggressive early on the Wii platform," McNealy said in a client note.
EA shares are were up almost 4 percent, or $1.60, at $44.20 in midday trading on the Nasdaq.
On Wednesday, EA said its holiday line-up will include more than 20 game titles for 11 different game systems, including next-generation consoles, personal computers and mobile game devices.
Among other things, EA will integrate real-time content from cable sports network ESPN into its sports games, which will also feature athletes that move more naturally than ever thanks to advances in the company's physics technology.
Nintendo's Wii and Sony's PlayStation 3 are expected to be on store shelves by year end. Microsoft's next-generation Xbox 360 has been on the market since November.

The one they are selling now are modified sets, costing $499 without games. One set of extra controllers cost about $100 and each game is aroung $80.

Without straying from Nintendo Wii topic.. I think PS3 today still offer nothing in significance. Wii is a special gaming experience that everyone should attempt, must like what Jankdev said, whether you will get tired of the motion-thingy after some time. Good for family fun and party games.
Graphic and Gadget fans would probably discard the Wii in their consideration during this generation of console wars.
I'm now 20% Wii 40% PS3 and 40% Xbox 360.

:o The price is much higher than a modified Japan set. I thought I saw some news that price of local set is always cheaper than import ones.

yeah, this maxim was proven to be true for both e ps3 n xbox360, but definitely in total contrast for e nintendo wii. apparently, e local sole distributor set e retail price at 645 or so, hence branding our local wii set as e triumpher of e international price contest. now, talk about being localised n all. =\

Do note that it is a bundle set with 2 selectively games :( And yes, I do agree that it is a carrot head price.
Now still awaiting for the price to drop till <500 though it might takes up to 1 yr to reach take price

Japanese publishers switching over to Wii
By Tom Magrino, Gamespot.com
28/6/2007
According to a report from Variety Asia, Japan's top three third-party publishers are ramping up development for Nintendo's Wii and DS systems at the expense of rivals Sony and Microsoft. Namco Bandai will reportedly increase Nintendo hardware development by 109 percent to 115 titles, Sega will up its titles by 96 percent to 49, and Capcom titles will rise by 5 percent to 20.
Not only will Nintendo platforms be getting a greater assortment of games, but they will see a greater availability of them as well. Variety Asia says more than 26.8 million units of Wii, DS, and Game Boy Advance software will ship during Nintendo's 2007 fiscal year. By comparison, 23.3 million units of software for the Sony platform will ship during the same period. Further, Sony machines will see a 30 to 40 percent decrease in shipped units from the three Japanese publishers, while Capcom alone will increase shipments for Nintendo systems by 81 percent to 4.7 million units.
As for the why, Variety Asia states that in addition to the fact the Wii and DS are trouncing the competition in the US and Japanese markets, development costs are lower for Nintendo's hardware.
The report also states that another Japanese software giant, Square Enix, does not plan to develop any new titles for the PlayStation 3 until the console's installed base rises enough to make increased next-gen development costs worthwhile. However, Variety Asia made no mention that the company has several PS3 projects currently in development, including Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Square Enix's president and CEO Yoichi Wada recently called the Xbox 360 and PS3 "over-engineered" and "mismatched" to gamers needs in a Financial Times report.

I like the last statement, because personally I would prefer games that are simpler, rather than very graphical and movie-like. When systems can support that capability, gamers are likely to expect that kind of standard.

Nintendo revealed some new tidbits on WiiWare:
* Most WiiWare games will have a budget around US$100,000 or less
* Each game will have a max size of 40MB presently
* Nintendo pays developers more quickly if the file size is as small as possible
* Ten WiiWare games are under development
* Developer can determine the price of WiiWare titles
* Each developer is allowed to publish only one game per month, the reason is to ensure game quality

Hi guys.
I am thinking to get a Wii for my family entertainment. Partly for my dad to get some exercise. Then Guitar Hero for myself.:P
Can someone recommend a reputable and friendly store which i can make enquiries while i think abt purchasing???
Best if can post an approximate pricetag for it.
standard 'local' set is in the 55x region. choose 3 games from a limited selection.
or go for an import set! wayy cheaper.

Yeah!!!
Go get import. I dun have one myself, but my friend owns the imported version...he got for only $400++ only.
According to him, the imported can play all games, but the local version cannot...is that true?
I have not much problems with the imported version too when I played on his Wii...since I can read some Japanese...haha...:)

My friend bought his Wii at a shop in Sembawang MRT station (where we both stay near to)...he's quite friendly with the stall-owner (it's actually like a counter in the shop), so perhaps he got at a better price than usual.
Just to add...his Wii is a modded one. (Dunno if I'm allowed to mention this.)
I'll go ask him on the dos and duns of buying and choosing...since I'm thinking of getting one myself...:D
