Sin City(Frank miller)
Highly recommended. Kick ass noir crime comic series that make black and white so sexy. Written by the Frank Miller. Never one to mince word or hold back. He let them ripped with his magnus opus.

Fables(vertigo)
Very good prospect with this titles. Stringing up tales that involves your favourite story book characters. You name it, i am sure they have it. Looking forward to how they develope this title

Sin city stop liao coz Frank miller don't want to continue, but do catch the movie. its a very faithful recreation of the comic panel by panel

Fables ongoing; cool story with different art team. I can't wait to see the Fables fight by the evil king. They were chased out of their land by the evil king. single issues sold out but you can get the TPB

Other titles to check out is The ultimates(very interesting story), Y-the last man, metal gear solid(for the art)

Swamp Thing by Alan Moore, Starman by James Robinson, Sandman by Neil Gaiman, Animal Man by Grant Morrison, Kingdom Come, Ultimates, Planetary, Authority, Bone, all mighty good read. Hellboy is good, Mignola delivers in each and every Hellboy series, the comics is so much better than the movie. Haven't read Sin City yet so can't comment.

Confirm have bro, in fact I myself also learned about it only recently. So far I've only been to Bedok branch but I heard all libraries carry them. You'll be surprised by the range and amount of english comics you can find there. A pity they still don't carry hk comics.

Gogetter: i am surprised that we have a western comic reader, good to know we have some forumers out here at the western. Good range of comics, most are vertigo. Yah Sandman is good, Bone is very different(jeff smith starting any new stuffs?)Yah Hellboy is good.in fact all DarkHorse/LEGENDS are cool titles for young adults.Read that Mignola is doing another Hellboy comic arc.

Currently i am following some titles and it's very heavy on the pocket. The ultimates 2, captain america, the new avengers, fables, losers, green lantern, infinite crisis, rann and tharnagar war, villians united, omac project and venence?? and a couple more that i can't remember. really very xiong on. not to mention the coming house of M

Some titles for serious read to recommend is from Vertigo: Y the last man, Lucifer, 100 bullets, which i had missed out. so i might pick up the back issues from ebay.

Actually presently the majority of the comics are american one. Hk only got 2 titles that's keeping my interest, Long Hu Meng and Four Constables. For Jap, due to the inconsistency and ban, I'm cutting down drastically. Westerns I started way back in the 80s, so 20 years liao, a bit hard to give up, but have to cut down due to the ever increasing price. Still collecting the Infinite Crisis related mini series, JSA, Teen Titans, Legion of Super Heroes, Green Lantern, Young Avengers, Astonishing X-Men, Ultimates etc. The rest I try to borrow from library, if not cannot tahan so many monthly titles.

I've just finished reading Herobear and the Kid by Mike Kunkel and Powers by Michael Bendis/Mike Oeming. Herobear and the Kid is a good read with beautiful art, think of it as Calvin and Hobbes but with a superhero theme. A great title for all ages. Powers on the other hand is more for adults, it contains strong language and graphical but the story is great. It deals with how society deals with the super powered beings.

My current favourite is also Ultimates 2 too, story now building up towards the climatic finale of season 2.

can i add these three favourites-i can't chose one over the other.

Loveless:tight story and deep characterisation. simple art

Fables:Snow white loves Big bad wolf. That's something to read about.

Ultimates by millar and hitch: its sad that their last issue is coming very soon.

I like NextWave! Its what a actual comic book should be. Nonsensical & Hilarious!

But 2-3 more issues til it gets cancelled! WHY!!

Probably due to low sales, anyway I heard they're going to change the format to series of minis.

There are so many ongoing series and as it is, am spending too much at Kino (my wife is livid, haha but what's new). Current favourite is "Rex Mundi" - if you are a big fan of the "Da Vinci Code", you would love this title. The book "Da Vinci Code" puts me to sleep 3/4 through it and the movie puts me to sleep 1/3 through it but "Rex Mundi" is a totally different kettle of fish, 3 volumes on and the story is still going strong. (Cautionary Tale: Bad Binding)

I like "Herobear and the Kid" and "Powers" too. The former is like you said, a tale for all ages but man oh man, when is Book 2 going to appear! It's like "Battle Chasers" all over again, 1 volume and kaput.

Wishlist: "Dexter" would be transformed from novels to graphic novels.
