I am quite surprised no one post a thread for this manga "NANA". I heard abt its "hotness" in Japan for quite some time liaoz. Still fighting the temptations whether to buy or not... :shock:

Btw, this manga is so hot in Japan that they are making a movie for it.

This is the 1st time i hear this...
I dun think so. I think its abt the gals and some guys, with fashion and forming rock bands. This manga artist is a great fan of the label Vivienne WestWood that ppl say that the clothings in the manga has a very heavy style of Vivienne WestWood. :rock:

But the upcoming movie which is going to show in Japan in September, the female is one of my fav Japanese female artiste, Nakashima Mika. =D>

I went to Kino Bugis, intending to sweep the entire set home with the 20%. But its short of vol1, so in the end i didnt buy.
I asked the Kino staff, then realise that its selling so well that vol1 is out of stock in tw itself. So its quite impossible to find in sg liaoz... :o

Its really one of the hottest manga for 2005 lor. Coz the movie itself is selling like hotcakes in Japan now.

Imagine these statistics:
In just 4 days, the movie has made 729,700,000 yen.
530,000 people to the cinemas.
Manga has also been the No.1 title for 3 consecutive weeks
"GLAMOROUS SKY"(the movie theme song) is also the Oricon No.1 single.

Then after 17days of the movie release, the company has announced that the movie has made 2.3 billion yen to date and attracted 1.76 million people to the cinemas so far.
A sequel of the same cast also has been confirmed. Filming will start next summer and expect to release in 2007.

Since I've browsed through yr vol 1, I dun really sees that why this title really a great hits in Jap. I'm not saying that the manga was bad, just that there are more titles which are more potential than this imo...

There are many manga which have been brought up to TV dramas in the past. There was a time where GTO brings up the popularity in Japan too ;) Later on, TV dramas and movies keeps releasing. From that time onwards, everyone is grabbing a copy of GTO manga too including me :mrgreen:

And I believes Nana will be hot for a short period. Once it cools down, the passion will not be longer there anymore...

The comic shop that I often visits still able to brings in a few copy of vol 1 today. U sure TW really running out of stocks?

How many manga actually does look promising from their vol1??? If i am not wrong, Dragon Ball vol1 also abit cannot make it. No one will expect it to be the one of the most read and influential manga title in the world lor. :prayer:

I think Nana is more than just trend. The artist pays attention even to the characters' dressing. She tried to make them look very Vivienne WestWood. Then this manga has link to fashion line, boutiques will want to have some connections with them.
Then the strong backing of Tobo who had just produced the movie for it, and promised a sequel very soon. Back up from the visual side.
And looking at the CD, movie tickets and manga sales, i think this is going to be more than a "short passion" lor. :supz:
I have this gut feeling, they might even wanna try make it into a stage play or dorama lor. Not impossible lor. Novels like Densha Otoko, it was 1st produced as novel, sales is gd. Then they made into movie, it turns out to be one of the most watched film last yr. Then made into dorama this yr, and viewership is pretty high too. Now they even had planned to make it into a stageplay. Just one online story can create such a economic uprise... :prayer: Oh, not forgetting manga. I saw many different versions of manga for Densha also lor. :salute:
Sekai no chuushin de, ai wo sakebu could be another novel to follow.

Btw, i do believe Kino lor. I tried all 3 branches and asked a few different staff at each branch. All of them have the same reply. They have been informed that Taiwan has ran out of stock vol1. :o Or maybe the reprints just catch up lor. :hello:

The trend of Japan comics is always as such, after a few issues or even 10 - 20 issues, than it becomes hot and people start chasing back the old issues, so Vol 1 usually not so great looking.

Hk comics...totally opposite, should start to read from the last issue, than backtrack until the 1st issue. This way you will find the standard is "improving" =)) Maybe Hades read too much HK liao :evil:

Good sales is no need say. Of course CY knows this is selling like hotcakes. If they dun release, then tw publishers earn till happy happy sia.:D

Another thing could be that they have received wind that the film is going to be show in local cinema soon. Which fans have waited very long till neck long long liaoz...

In Angel Sanctuary, the starting is a very beautiful female angle helps a grp of demons coz she feels that they are more right. But was banish to earth, become a guy...:thinking:

JP version also ntil 15.

One thing strange is I felt that CY was competing with TW publisher, they release until book 14 liaoz.

got (c) problems? Sure or not... They anyhow release so many books. Fruits Basket ENG version release until 17. Deathnote also latest.

I rarely buy CY books becuase they got a lot of spelling mistakes one.
