Just read an article in today's edition of TNP. Fire broke out in a flat; owner's toy collection among other things damaged. I remember a loss figure of $100K being mentioned but can't remember if it was the toys or everything. The flat owner thought he could claim under the HDB fire insurance but later realised that value of flat contents not insured under policy.
I would have thought that it would be obvious that paying a couple of dollars a month for insurance would have paid for only limited coverage but anyway, my purpose here is not to comment about that - I just want to remind us all that sometimes sh!t happens and to consider our individual appetites for mitigating such risks.
If you all want the full story go read TNP lah, I couldn't find the article online.
