The release of Chinese martial arts film, Ip Man propelled the Chinese martial artist-actor, Donnie Yen to stardom, becoming an instant a-list celebrity with many projects offered at his doorstep. Due to an accumulation of injuries sustained from his the many previous martial art movies he was in, the actor shared that his health and body are no longer in good state.

As the actor took on movie after movie this year, old injuries sustained before were consistently inflamed time after time again. The accumulative injuries have caused the actor to suffer from aching bones and joints.

In the interview, , Yen admitted that a martial arts actor has a very short working life-span in the entertainment industry as he is no longer as agile as he used to be. Yen shared his plans to retire before he hits 50 years old and plans to shift his career to concentrate on working behind-the-scenes instead. Apart from his 2013 retirement plans, the 46-year-old actor also revealed that he will only accept work projects till 2012.

Yen films at least four productions a year and earns an estimate of S$2 million for each film. Aside from filming work, the actor also takes in various advertisements each year and rakes in a yearly salary of more than S$8 million. With such a healthy income, the actor can definitely retire without a single worry.

Fans of Yen would be disappointed with news of his impending retirement and feel that it will be awhile before there will be another Hong Kong martial artist actor as stellar as Yen.

If thats based on comparing between Donnie Yen and Jackie Chan. If I recall correctly, Jackie is older and he is still acting...

But I guess, its time for Donnie to retire. Body condition might not be able to handle the demanding pressure on all those physical actions..

hhmmm.. he is not tat old n yet he retire le T_T

It ll be bad news for you too if you do not stop spamming.

Do not spam
It is one of the worst net etiquette. If more than half of your posts are less than 5 words, it annoys people having to click here and there moving through the forums.

Reading the whole post does not mean you are not spamming? Reading and posting is 2 completely different thing.

If you got nothing constructive to say, then don't, it will be much appreciated.

From Wiki :

Forums consider posts consisting solely of: Thank you., I love it. – or similar phrases – spam.

In this case, bulk of your posts this morning = Spam.
One or two posts we can accept, but not every single one, if you ve notice, only posting that we deem as spam from you are deleted, not all of your posts.

I guess for Donnie Yen`s case health is wealth, cannot act forever as he is human.
