I just bought issue 1 yesterday.

Initially thought the art is wierd, but than after reading its ok. I am just halfway through, but can already sense that the story will be very solid and mind challenging. I think this will be another title which I will chase the other issues fast.

Who like these type of stories, its a must read :rock:

Yea it is drawn by the author of Monster, of course it will be good. But I also want to read the latest work by the same author, which is called Pluto... Still waiting for Taiwan to release...

wait till u read further.....u wil get stuck like wat happen when u start will death note..this story is damn solid though the art is ok only....very interesting plot! :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

In fact it is just a continuous story of events, but the author made it so well that he breaks them all up, place it together bit by bit that up till the latest, you still won't know the mystery...marvellous. :rock:

....Yes...this is a must collect series for all comic fans..!!! :D ....i think is 蒲岛直树 the artist and creator of the story if i m not wrong....his previous work MONSTER already put him among the masters of thriller n suspense... this work is simply a continuation of a master piece in making... :D

...he's working with another master... the artist who created atomic boy...always can't remember his name....anyway...the titled is Pluto...... another great story but i find that he's much more involved in the art and the story creating is with the other artist....

Sometimes I wonder, how did he managed to come up with such a story. It really needs alot of brainpower to do it. Part by part mystery reveals. I must get Monster soon :D

my sister read monster, said that it is also good. However monster explore the human minds on a micro-level which is similarly cover at the early stages of 20th Century boys story(e.g how the "Friend" came about. Check out the part when they were at the Haunted House.) Unfortunately, the whole series of Monster book was sold to Garang Guni so I do not have the series to read back. But the 20th series is coming to an end(I think) as evident to the old man(prophet) found out that there might be a future after all as evident to the discovering of Bowling Queen and her role in reviving the bowling scenes in the future. On top of that, he heard loud round of applause which he thought was from the applause meant for Bowling Queen but it turned out that it was a different kind of applause. So the pieces are set for an epic battle.

is pluto really good? how many volumes now. I might check it out. After all, I liked a good read. Currently there's nothing much in the market now which has serious read. any to recommend. I thought of picking up the issue which the cover of a close-up of a girl wearing bikini with a pirate head. My local haunt boss recommend me this, said story quite good(any comment/ review)

I just rented the vol 1 for 20th century this afternoon. Seriously speaking, doesn't know what is going on for this book. Suddenly flash back to 20 yrs ago, than back to 10 yrs ago, keeps flying back and here explaining about the past and happenings.

Ths sign...you will only know till about vol 10, its basiclly a cute design whichi has been used in the wrong way.

Basically its the flash back thru and fro that I think make it different from others. The entire story untill now will be like this, bit and pieces to form a puzzle, once you continue on, you cant stop :hello:

Just finished #19...sian... have to wait for some time before #20 comes out.

Now 贤知 really looks like a hero, although he is just a normal guy. One of the things I like about this is that people meet each other years later, changed, doing different things. Oh, there is one guy in the later part who looks similar to a character in Monster :laugh:

Collects both of them. He only releases one book every few months, so have to support both titles, if not wait till neck very long :laugh:

20th century boys will end on #23, but heard that there will be an additional #24 because the ending was not that perfect.

The latest issue is quite complicated especially towards the end. May be due to the reason that the author is trying to reveal as much hidden plots as possible and piece together the jigsaw puzzle. The first "Friend" is indeed dead, and this 2nd "Friend" is the actual guy behind everything, even the first one. They seem too similar, so may be twins afterall. :thinking:

i thought it ended on #22. It certainly looks that way. How come Kenji return back to the past which was revealed in the back pages of #22. Anyway, the ending seems very pecular.

Sorry to dig out this thread. I re-read the whole 24 books again recently, before watching the movie.

I still dunno who is the last "friend"? And also in the last book, there's 2 boys with the same mask, who's the other boy? Lastly, kenji call out the mystery boy's name (sheng you - in chuang yi version & sheng bao - in tiong li's version), this name is mentioned once earlier, its the boy who loves to cut up fish in the school lab, but he's rumoured to be dead before he gets to do his fish experiment. He is supposed to be the "ghost " in the lab at night. Is sheng you the last "friend"?

Anyone? please share your thoughts?

I just watched the movie yesterday. Very original and it's basically an extract of the important parts of the comic. Maybe because the author is the scriptwriter himself.

No answer to your question MAx, becuase when I completed the comic, I also don't know who the final "friend" is. Maybe got to re-read in more detail. It's the same kind of mystery he left in Monster :thinking:

Yup, Pluto is really going good and slow. I personally prefer Monster because of the European background, but of course, 20th century boys is more "grand" as it spans across the world :D
