Boss, this is the hottest comics after Naruto in Jap leh, not i think the drawing so so only, Storyline wise ok. Just not sure why so hype in Jap, Hk and Tw :shock:

I bought the 1st issue bcos of the hype, was quite disappointed by the story and the art. There is nothing to make me look forward to buying the 2nd issue. :|

basically both the anime and maga plots and storyline are the same there r onli a few characters that the manga has, anime dun have other than that this comic is a sure must see the show too, touching, funny and action-packed i gave it 9/10...

I only read the 1st issue so cant say much about the overall story, but the jokes didn't really make me laugh, but the "touching" part you mentioned may be what it the author wants to show, since they are brothers. :salute:

FMA will create a higher craze this year when its movie is release. :shooting:
So far i prefer its anime more than its manga. And like Shin had described, there is a slight difference btn the manga and anime. I think this is a common thing for animes and manga, especially for those super long eps anime. eg, Samurai Deeper Kyo-26eps, Shaman King-51eps, Love Hina series(1tv series-26eps, 2 1eps OVA and 1 3eps OVA). :salute:

Btw, anyone collects FMA merchandise? They have a red fig previously, now releasing a blue fig. Its 1143yen for the fig with a book inside. Me is waiting for the blue fig to release to join the red one in my collection. 8-)

I rem the price of the red fig before Kino member discount is almost $30. With 10% will bring u ard $27. =D> And if we are lucky the fig is to release during promotions, with 20% i will be abt $24! :prayer:

Yah, thats because the producers really put effort into creating the story plot and merging in real history in lor. Near the end of FMA tv series, i think its WWI. Coz i think Edward said something abt this Chandler guy. Paiseh my history is F9, so i am definitely not the best pax to explain. :red:

seems like we hv 2 groups here, the like & dislike group. i belong to the second one :D just flip through the comic in comic shop when they released the first issue...cant catch my interest like wat huo feng liao yuan did....so until now even this comic and anime is damn happening in oversea...it doesnt border me.......think i just don like the artists style of drawing....kinda pickky when choose comic :sweat: :sweat:

The story did have its creativity there, but cant get me to carry on with issue2. But bcos of its success, I think I saw a few other alchemist comics in the market now. Too many may seem normal although its not usual for Jap manga to follow popular trends.

I'm neutral here.. I bought till vol 9, still unsure whether i should carries on with this title... The story is nice but doesn't likes the battle style.

But can't complains much since this is drawn by a female artist :) Can't expects much on her..

Personally although i'm a 100% comics guy but the drawing is like.........quite weak frankly, the anime is very much better. Overall rating i give it a 6 for comics and 8.5 for its anime :rock:

These are my personal views, personal so it only applies to me.

- The drawing cannot attract me bcos I pay attention to that very much. Compared to Naruto which also has simple lines, Naruto's style of drawing is one of its kind, if you would notice.

- I could not laugh at the jokes of the story, can improve though. The other comic which give me the same feeling is 浪客剑心.

- At any point of time I can just stop and carry on one week later, the story dun have the kind of gripping effect to make me look forward.

Why I think it suceed, its a new genre of comics, Alchemist story and ppl are interested to see how it goes. Second, the focus of brotherly ties (if I am correct). Third, the effort put into character design is good, and in fact I like the toys although I dun own them. Finally, the main cause of success I would say is the Anime.

I'm not discrimantion against female actually :laugh: But usually, female artist doesn't had good fighting scenes plot. But FMA fighting scenes are ok to me but just doesn't suits my taste. The later issues becoming more and more exciting now. Might change my opinion about this title :P

The arts had her own unique style. I will gives 8 out of 10 as it is quite neat and prety well drawn I can says.

Storylines will gives 8 out of 10 too. Weakness??? Too much talking sometimes which totally pulled me out from this titles. U might say that death note had even more talking scenes, but DN is quite difference [-X U can't miss out any lines sometimes else u won't be able to knows what is going on with the storyline.

Overall, I still can't understand why this title is so popular over Japan :?:
Likewise to 浪客剑心 which I agrees with Rookie as well as 最游記. More worst for the 封神演義... crap story but very popular in Japan as well.

It seems like those China famous novels are very popular in Jap when converting them into manga like 三國誌, 西游記 & 封神演義. 水滸傳 is more popular in PS2 games title too.. Only 紅樓夢 is not being used :laugh:

Did you notice that the there's a slight difference between the anime and the comics? Some of the scenes shown in the anime are only shown as the side stories in the comics.

On the whole, the plot is the same. But towards the middle, seems like there's a slight difference in the story to me.

I'm trying to finish the comic first b4 watching the anime, although i got it burn into dvds.. :D I personally like the storyline and the baddies.. sins of people.. quite cool actually, while this comic actually don't focus entirely on combat, you have to appreciate the artist's effort to shape the characters as well in order to enjoy FMA, all i can say is it's not everybody's cup of tea but it's definitely one of my Fav. :)

I like this series leh, thought my favourite now is the Koren Shin Angyo Onshi. Great difference in art style but I like both ha... one is clean and simple lines, the other has great details. Think both art style suits the story very well...

Bought it from Tenchi. They were doing promotion that if Chuang Yi publish the manga, then they will sell the TW version at $5. The $5 thingy last till end of this month.

Just visited Toa Payoh branch recently and found out that the price was raised to $6.20 :(

Dunno why, probably CY has not published this book yet, so price remains. If that's the case, then really "kio tio" :yeah:

OT: Regarding the $5 thingy, heard that Tenchi is having a price war with CY, that's why Tenchi offers to sell TW's version @ $5 for titles published by CY. Well, that was 1 month ago news. As of now, not sure if the $5 thingy will stretch till later than end of this month or not ;)
